The goliath was sprawled out near the body of water, his forelegs restin' straight before him and his rear legs bunched up and ready to pick his body of it needed. His toes were dipped into the edge of the water, long claws flexin' as toes stretched. Golden eyes would stare ahead of him, watchin' his surrounding's and takin' in what was 'round him. It was quite a beautiful site, he had to admit. The color of the lake itself was rather breathtakin', somethin' he was sure he hadn't seen before of any body of water. He was used to murky waters, so seein' a lake that shown his own reflection was rather... odd to him. But good, nonetheless.

Ears would flicker as the sounds of birds echoed into the sky, golden eyes watchin' as they took off from a cluster of tall trees and into the horizon. He felt relaxed, at peace even. Bein' able to allow his body to rest from his long and rough venture to Aesseldar was exactly what he needed, and bein' lounged up by the lake with the sun beatin' down on his dun hide, bein' able to soak up the warmth as a soft breeze came every now and then was somethin' he would not complain 'bout at all. Nay, he'd take it, and he'd take it for as long as he could get it.

She found she rather liked the lake. It was no ocean, but at least it was pretty and drinkable. So she had chosen to stay close for at least a day or so longer. However, she had ventured off for some time before her return to it. A fat rat hung by the tail between her teeth. On occasion, it would jerk a leg or two, but it was mostly dead. Rue padded across the rolling hills and past a few trees that would ultimately lead her to the edge of the water.


She had paused before she reached it. The scent of another caused her to stiffen. Someone must have arrived at some point while she was gone. Posture straightened and head rose as she broke out in the open area just before the vast body of clear water. Immediately her eyes sought out the other, but she made no move to invade his space. In fact, she chose a place off to the other side where she tossed her small snack upon the ground.


Her own body flopped down next to it and a steady paw grasped her food.

Bein' alone would come to an end soon enough, the foot falls of another causin' for his ears to prick forward and attention to be given in the direction it was comin' from. Golden eyes would stare, waitin' to see just who was comin' his way. And as they appeared, Lucien would watch in silence as the rather unique lookin' lioness came into view, noticin' right away the fangs that were protrudin' from her jaw. The next thing he noticed, aside from the markin's that adorned her body, was the rat that hung swingin' from her mouth. He would continue to watch her as she threw herself to the ground, and after several moments his golden gaze would wander back to the lake, watchin' the ripples that would be created by the waterlife.

He'd continue to stay silent for a little while longer, wonderin' if he should even bother the woman while she had caught somethin' to eat and occupy her time for the time bein'. But after a few moments Lucien would push himself up into a seatin' position, rollin' his shoulders before pushin' them back to have him sit straight and shakin' out his thick, black mane. "Looks like a big meal ya' caught." Deep, drawlin' voice would speak loud enough so that it would carry to the stranger, an obvious joke 'bout the rat she had. Somethin' lighthearted to attempt to break the ice with a stranger. Now hopefully she would find it that way.

Her paw remained ever still on top of the rat. Its carcass had finally ceased to twitch beneath the weight. She made it an effort to keep her gaze away from the brute. A silent timer that ticked away in her mind before it happened. The silence broke by a voice she did not expect. The drawl caused her ears to flick forward in interest as her gaze finally swept to him. Lips pulled upward in a crooked grin as her paw patted the dead creature a time or two, hard. "A mighty meal fit fer two, don't ye reckon?"

Paw pulled back a fraction and dug nails into the flesh. Her other front paw now extended in front of her to do the same as she ripped the parcel in two. Her right paw pushed the rear end toward the brute. Curious how he would receive an offering from a stranger.

He was hardly expectin' a response from the lioness, figurin' she would eat her meal and ignore him until she was done. So when she replied and tore the rat in two before pushin' a piece in his direction, Lucien was a little more than surprised. A part of him wanted to decline the offer, not wantin' her to feel obligated that she had to share any part of her hard earned catch with him. But the other half of him told the dun man that he should politely accept it to show the stranger that he was grateful for the generous offerin'. "Ah, ya' sure? I don't want ya' to still be hungry after eatin' that morsel there."

The goliath would hoist himself up onto all fours now, lettin' his muscles stretch a little before slowly paddin' in the direction of the woman. Lips would pull into a warm grin, golden eyes watchin' the lioness before he took his right paw and placed it upon the half she had shoved toward him. "I appreciate is, Miss..?" He'd leave it an open question, givin' her the choice of either introducin' herself or keepin' herself a mystery.

Despite the fact that all she had found so far were oversized brutes, she could not say that she was not impressed with them. Gaze remained upon him as he finally chose to rise. Eyes watched the muscles that flexed beneath his pelt as he moved to her. Her own paw dragged away from the snack she had offered to him and returned to her remainder. "Bah, I'd jus' 'ave ye fetch me 'nother if needs be." She gave him a pointed look of seriousness before it fell away to a soft, almost musical chuckle. Rue did love her jokes- even if she was the only one to find the humor.

The toes that had still remained on her half gripped at what remained and slowly pulled it upward toward her mouth, only to pause when he left an open question to dangle between them. "Captain Rue Drax, but ye may call me Rue bucko." With that, she flung the upper half into her mouth and gave a loud crunch before she quickly swallowed the half of her rat. " 'N who might ye be?" She questioned in return as her full attention was turned upon him once more, as she remained sprawled at the lake's edge.

The woman’s accent was quite a peculiar one, ‘bout as unique his was. It wasn’t everyday that you came across someone that had a different way of talkin’, which interested the dun man just as much as the woman’s humor. "That’s a done deal, Miss Captain Rue." A deep rumble of a chuckle would vibrate within his chest, golden eyes watchin’ as she then took the time to wolf down her piece of rat. Lucien would glance down at his own piece, lettin’ overgrown claws dog into its hide as his paw continued to stay placed upon it.

"Name’s Lucien Hanover. Pleasure t’ meet ya’, Rue." A bob of his skull would be given with his introduction, allowin’ for a brief pause before his paw gripped into the rat some more, body bendin’ just enough for Lucien’s jaws to take hold of the carcass and bite into what meat there was. He’d finish it quickly, rough tongue swipin’ over his lips to clean them. He’d stand up tall once he was finished, shakin’ out his mane and allowin’ for gaze to fall back upon the lioness. "Are ya’ new here, Captain?"

She was thrilled to learn of his name as he gave it to her. She locked the little tidbit of information away. She had decided it was important enough to keep for later use if need be. She had no issue in getting her half down quickly. She had no real reason to savor the rat anyway. There was only enough to tide her over a few hours, perhaps long enough to find a larger meal. Even if it required forcing a sibling or crewmate to help out.

She watched as he finally ate his share and stood once more. Finally, she figured she could do the same. Limbs gathered beneath her slate frame and pushed it from the ground. Loose debris fell back to the surface. "I reckon I be. Me crew 'n I arrived outside th' land a few moons ago." One should rose to shrug casually. "Hows' about yerself?" She left her dainty smile on her lips as cranium tilted to the side. A braid fell in front of pale eyes.

It would seem like he would be runnin' into other lions that haven't been here for long. She was the third one that had either just arrived or have been here for less than a couple of months. All fresh minds takin' on a new land, how refreshin'. "I haven't been here t' long myself. Perhaps a week?" Lucien couldn't exactly remember when he arrived in Aesseldar, but it hadn't been more than two weeks tops, maybe. Time seemed to blur a little for him from adventurin' and figurin' out which spots he liked the most here.

Golden eyes would take an observant glance at their surroundin's once before allowin' attention to be placed fully back on Rue. He would note the braid that had fallen in front of her eyes, a brow risin' subtly at the look of it. Never had he seen somethin' like that before, and for a moment he wondered how one would even be able to do that. Such a big world with so many things he didn't know or understand, all somethin' he was open to learn about. "Might be an odd question, but how'd ya' get yer hair to look like that?" His chin would motion toward Rue, his question asked in a drawlin', polite tone. He was curious and wanted to know.

Rue couldn't deny that she slightly liked this strange new fella she had found. He wasn't an eyesore and his peculiar sound was something she rather wanted to hear more of. A smile remained heavy on her lips as he recounted how long he had been within the land. She was glad they had found it. She was fond of it so far. A land full of giants, so it would seem. "Ye liken it?" She questioned if it fit his taste. This was by far the prettiest land she had found within, but she hadn't searched fully.

A brow raised as he looked confused. His question caught her off guard, however. In a bit of a flustered moment, she quickly tossed it back out of the way. "We 'ad'a monkey." It wasn't very often that she sat and had a personal chat with anyone out of her crew. She found she felt odd when asked questions about her appearance. Even she knew she wasn't built as slender and feminine as most other lionesses. Nor did she have teeth that she could easily hideaway.
