Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

Now this was a good day. A day that she didn't allow herself to stress over where her next meal would come from but a day where she really just had to not physically inhale the lavender petals. The scent was already intoxicating enough but there was something so fresh about being out here that it made the whole world less big. Somedays that size of the world was wonderful and made her feel adventurous but others, it just made her feel small.

Tintalle had no interest in worrying about what tomorrow looked like so she eagerly crossed over the lavender fields. Carefully, of course, so that she didn't ruin more flowers than necessary. To ruin this glad of beauty would be a travesty and certainly didn't want her name to go down in history as a beauty killer.

Kaden watched from the distance, having reclined into a sit to rest for a while and enjoy the scenery. He had not meant to spy on the girl, it just sort of ended up happening. She moved slowly in the distance like an ant across a log, careful steps lost upon the lion from such distance. He only knew that she smelled beautiful and he was not feeling so ornery that he wanted to get up and leave to avoid interacting. The neutral act of remaining seated seemed to be an action in itself--eventually, she would notice he was there, and it would make her skin crawl. He was no stranger to having this effect on others.

"Hail--do you live here?" Kaden called out on the wind, giving in to the pleasantries he had memorized like a script. Always weighing the value of a given situation, he decided staying was more valuable than avoiding the chat.

Purple was one of her favorite colors, green taking precedence, but ultimately this was a sight that could make anyone enjoy purple. Or the opposite! Tintalle imagined that seeing such a lake full of purple might dissuade people and force them to never want to see it again. She hoped that it wouldn't go that far but she knew that sometimes if she ate too much of something, she ended up hating it and couldn't stand the taste for a while.

Her attention was swiftly taken as she noticed something off within the glade. It wasn't any strange batch of flowers but he did look rather flowery and well within the shade. While he may have been seated, Tintalle could tell that he was large - forcing her, again, to feel much more comfortable. Being as large as she was, others weren't so forgiving sometimes to her size. Luckily for the male who happened to call after her she was happy to crush the distance between them. Tintalle kept her pace slow but she was able to make a small detour with a charming smile on her face. Weaving towards him eagerly. Essentially taking the bait.

Here? she asked, blinking as she looked around at the glade. In Aesseldar as a whole, but I haven't slept in the glade in many moons. It had been a good several months since she had slumbered within the warm embrace of the lavendar meadow and something that could easily be remedied today if she felt so inclined. I suppose you don't live here, either? she asked, feeling a little as though it wasn't one she should be asking but seeing as they'd never crossed paths before it was an easy assumption.

He watched with anticipation as she seemed to turn and acknowledge his call, the steady growth of her figure signaling her evident approach. Kaden remained seated until she nearly arrived when he finally lifted his body back into a standing greeting, taking in the sight of her and just how large she was. The lion was shameless about the way he eyed her up and down, assessing the unique coloration of her pelt and the eager glint in her gaze. He could not recall a time he had ever met a lioness who matched him so nearly in stature and the feeling of it caught him off-guard.

"Aesseldar--that is this land?" Kaden sought to clarify. He tried to tuck every bit of information she uttered into the files of his memory for any possible future use. "I do not," he confirmed. "I am Kaden Ammar, and you are?" He ducked his head in a half-hearted greeting, only ever offering his own information as an offering in return for something else. She seemed to be the greatest find he'd had yet.

As awkward and spotlighting as it felt to be looked over as he did, Tintalle felt good. It didn't feel wrong, per say, but if her mother were here to see she'd say that it was unsightly for a man to stare at a woman as he did. Perhaps it was why Tintalle was so enraptured by his gaze. Rebellion in allowing him the chance to peruse her features like an open book. Just as she had expected, he was just as large as she was but larger for his sex. It would be a shame if he were smaller so to see that she wasn't going to be completely a pariah was nice.

Mhm, she casually confirmed Aesseldar as the title of this land. While it might not be her first priority, she was gathering as much information about the lands as she could. The living and breathing parts to give her information were few and far between but she had high hopes that this gentleman would change that for her. Tintalle.. Grey. Nice to meet you, Kaden. Formalities were off-putting but it was hard not to go into it when you needed to. It wasn't as though she could launch into a full conversation about her day with a stranger like she had been able to do with her brothers or parents. Meeting strangers was a lot different...

He nodded his agreement at her own formalities, unable to find the drive within himself to care to mirror a sentiment he was not sure he actually felt. Still, he knew it was the right thing to say. It was right to approach every encounter with glee and childish joy at the notion of being in the other party's presence. Kaden did not quite buy that.

"I myself am... traveling. This is the first land with any life in it that has not been sprayed to death," he explained with a quirked brow, referring to the primitive marks of a cat who owned territory. Not that Kaden was any better than them--far from it--but it was annoying when day after monotonous day he could not find a land free of some high and mighty type.

This particular male was very odd and certainly not someone she would've meddled with in the past. Not that her brothers would've let her, of course. Every friendship she ever tried to make was typically ruined by them somehow. That wasn't to say that she didn't want to be here now but it certainly forced her to see it as a challenge. A way to find some common ground between them when she guessed they were quite opposite.

For a good second she didn't quite understand his terminology but then quickly equated it to meaning that the populace here was limited. That there were no prides here and no kings or queens to throw down or puff their chest. More and more lions are showing up. I don't think that'll last long. For her, it was good and bad - it meant that her time alone was going to be cut in half and she'd be a target for their desires. But it also meant that there would be more lions to interact with and grow with that weren't her family. And none of them, her brothers especially, would have any say in who she made her company with.

Kaden quirked one brow with interest as she predicted the future of this land would be a populated one. If this were true, it would make sense that he had come across a few other lions now. He was not the only one stumbling into the place and it seemed that he might have more competition than he had anticipated upon his first arrival.

"Why don't you take some of it, then?" He questioned flatly. He did not think he quite had a full-picture idea of who the lioness was or her motivation for even being here, and Kaden intended to change that by the time the conversation was through.

Never would she have imagined sitting anywhere and being dropped a bomb like that one. A bomb that made sense while also making no sense. Her? A leader? A .. well, Queen? The thought made her feel a little embarrassed and a little spotlighted. She wasn't much of an attention grabber but she had said that she was interesting in doing something new. What could be more new than leading your own pride? Who would even follow her?

So she managed to weave on a brave face and some furrowed but determined brows, looking to Kaden with a sudden spark of an idea. That courage seeping through her teeth as well as her eyes as she regarded him in a much prettier light. Are you volunteering to be my King.. if I do that? She would need someone to help her if she was going to do that. Leading was a little new to her but perhaps with a little guidance and someone at her side it'd be easier to work through if she fucked things up.

His question seemed to have an effect on her, only Kaden could not pinpoint what exactly that effect was. He watched the lioness while occasionally shifting his gaze to the beautiful glade beyond, uncomfortable from the suddenly intense emotion in the air and undecided on how to respond. Once she spoke, he could not refrain from letting out a snort of irony.

"Planning on being my own king, actually," Kaden corrected as he peered over at her. The thought of having to answer to anyone--even this friendly lioness--was not a desirable one.

"Besides, aren't I a stranger? Shouldn't you be a little more wary of me?" He prodded, his gaze curious and perhaps too pleased with himself.
