Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

12/15/2020 Staff
Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

12/7/2020 Staff
TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

12/5/2020 Staff
Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

11/28/2020 Staff
As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

11/19/2020 Staff
Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

11/4/2020 Staff
Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

12/15/2020 Eoin
With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

11/17/2020 Eoin
The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

11/4/2020 Eoin
It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

Spring Y11
With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

Many things had changed in the past two years of her life, that much she knew to be true. On the run, that's what she had been for the majority of it. Fleeing, always looking over her shoulder, and yet she still survived. Still managed to carry her head up high, still had a spark to her eyes. Still defiant as always, offering her own opinion even if it was not asked for when she met those in her journeys. Some reason though her journey had brought her here.... to this strange land. It was nothing like she'd seen before, diverse and lush. Briefly, she wondered where she had found herself... and perhaps stupidly she briefly wondered if anyone she'd met on her journeys were here...or better yet, kin.

Trees rose up around her on every side, it was something she'd never seen before and it intrigued her, drew her further into the lands. Slowly, yet she was not cautious... simply distracted by her surroundings. Dual-toned eyes darting from tree to tree to tree, then to the ground and the sky – or where it'd be – which was just underside of treetops. So much to take in and yet it was almost too much. Underbrush rubbed against her with each step, causing her trip into the land to be much harder than she expected. She was not sure how long she'd been walking, but the leaves that crunched beneath her paws echoed in the silence with only her breath to accompany it, her tail idly twitching back and forth behind her, gently brushing the leaves every now and then.

Slowly, slowly she comes to a halt in what she guesses to be about a few hundred yards into the woods... Silver ears flick; listening and yet she hears nothing... A low sigh escapes vocals before her rump settles to the earth in one the few clear spots she could have found, leaves crinkling beneath her weight. Might as well rest here for a bit before heading off once again...

The beast had spent his night in the misty forest he had found a few days after arriving in this new land. The atmosphere was just to his liking. No sun, no visibility and you could practically hear everything with the leaves covering the ground. And they made a great pillow for his tired limbs. He had wandered around these woods for almost a day before he decided to take a nap. And his nap was well deserved. Though someone ruined it. The sound of crackling leaves beneath someone's paws caused his eyes to open and lock in the distance. He remained still as a tree. Silent. Even his breath was hard to be seen. His sides almost unmoving. From a far he could have looked like just a big rock. Though.. he was a mountain. When the rustling stopped for awhile his ears cupped forward and he listened harder. Predator instincts urging him to leap forward and eat whatever was making those sounds. And then he decided to move. Large head rises up, soon followed by his body. Shoulders roll and leaves rustle violently beneath his movements. It was as if the ground was moving itself. He shook his fur and mane to get the leaves off before moving forward.

A few steps in and he could see her silhouette. Pastel eyes locking on every curve her silhouette made. A woman. Or so he thought. Claws scraped the ground softly as his tusked and stoic face came out of the fog and into view. His enormous body halted halfway out of the shrubs and the mist and he stared at her. Stared at her as if he was seeing her soul, judging her for her existence.

Silence stretched and she was enjoying it, left to her thoughts and memories – though not all of those were fond – and well it was peaceful. Slowly her eyes drifted closed, enjoying the sounds of nature as she let her thoughts drift. Let her muscles slowly relax and frame shifted where she sat. It was because of this focus, because of this silence that when it was broken by movement in the distance. A rustling sound, almost as if something – or someone – was also there.... did her eyes snap open. Muscles which had previously been relaxed, instantly tensed as her instinct to fight or flight kicked in. Claws sinking into the earth beneath her, stabbing through the leaves and into the solid.

Seconds passed and she could only wait, wait and watch the areas around her. Then there in the distance a figure emerged from the fog... white as could be with larger teeth than her own and his – she assumed it was a he, it looked like he – build was larger as well. Remaining as tense as she had been, she waited to see if he would speak. He did not though, instead, he simply stared. It was creepy if she was being honest and caused her to shift uneasily where she sat. While she was no small lioness, he easily dwarfed her. "Is there a problem?" Why was he staring at her like that? It was making her think he was some kind of a perverted creeper.

He watched her in silence and so did she. And that silence grew heavy, agonizing. Almost unbearable. And then she spoke. Was it out of fear? Was it out of curiosity? He was yet to find out. But something about this female drew him closer. To him, she didn't look afraid. And that was what he wanted to see. Ears flicked and he fully came into view with a few steps forward. "You woke me up." He almost hissed and took another step forward. Slow, precise and calculated. Still at a respectful distance from her, of course. Tail twitched and striped legs halted in place, keeping his body relaxed, his muscles too.

"I don't like to be woken up." He rumbled, though his body didn't show any signs of wanting to attack or threaten her. He wasn't set on attacking her, he was curious about her. What would a woman do in a place like this. A place for beasts and monsters. Shoulders roll and he attempts to move and circle around her. Head low, pupils dilated. She almost looked like pray, only - she wasn't. He would aim to stop again before her after getting a good look at her. His eyes locking with hers. "What could you possibly search for, at a place like this?"

Ah it seemed he was just one of those creepy lions, the kind that thought if they intimidated others they could get their way or something. At least that was what she figured for now, as he basically hissed out that she had woken him up. Despite this she does not move, does not blink for several seconds before her head cocks slightly to the left and she blinks finally. Was he serious? "So sorry I interrupted your beauty sleep." She wasn't really, but she did not give this away in her tone, instead her tone remained neutral. Bland. For now at least, until she got a better read on the male before her.

He moves then, closer and she remains where she is, unmoved but not unphased. No instead her eyes lock onto him, watching him as he circles her like some kind of predator. Ok creepy. "No one likes being woken up." She drawls, head-turning slightly to keep him in view until he returns to stand before her once more. Questioning why she was here, was this home or something? Because if it was, she was really beginning to question his taste. "Here in particular? Nothing. Simply getting the lay of the land." Shoulders rolled then, muscles relaxing more because as large and creepy as he was, she was not one to be intimidated. She was not one to be afraid unless given a reason to fear someone. "Why are you sleeping in a bunch of underbrush? This your home?" Because dude, upgrades. Upgrades my man. This land was crowded and the air was thick and the fog? Yea, so not her favorite place she'd visited this far.

So sorry I interrupted your beauty sleep.

Her words slipped out and like venom slid into his veins. Oh, the irritation he was beginning to feel was almost unbearable. Eyes narrowed slightly as he kept silent to her comeback. He thought she was done, his muscles tensed slightly and he was about to turn kick some leaves in her face and leave, but she continued. Damn, she was a smart mouth. He hated that kind of women. What caught his attention was the answer to his question.

Here in particular? Nothing. Simply getting the lay of the land.

Getting the lay of the land. It was hard to believe, but he had no intention to dig any deeper. That was enough information. He did not care what she was searching for. What her name was. Or who she's here with. Though her question caused him to frown slightly and rumble out a half assed reply. "Getting the lay of the land. I have big plans for the near future." He explained simply and shook his head slightly. It was time to get out of this fog and look for more out there and choose a place to call home. A place to protect. A place to keep. A place to own. His eyes went back towards the woman and he continued. "I don't live anywhere in particular, yet."

Sarcasm was second nature to her and sometimes it was taken with offense, very rarely it was appreciated. So she watched him for any signs of a reaction to her words. Closely, dual-toned eyes remained focused on the pale male before her. It was because of this she noticed the slight narrowing of his eyes. Awww did he not appreciate her sarcasm? Damn. Oh well, she really didn't care and his dislike wasn't going to stop her from doing it. He does not respond to her first comment though, does not offer any reputable or nasty remark about her sarcasm. Something that was different than others, she could not tell you the number of times she got told about how poorly her mother raised her. The thought had her mentally rolling her eyes because her mother had raised her well so they could kick rocks.

He speaks then, echoing her own words back to her, how quaint. "Oh really? Care to share those big plans or are they some kind of secret?" She knew that some people were very secretive. Hell, she liked keeping things to herself, so him not asking her name or what she meant was a relief. For if he did not know her name, he …..well nevermind she was rather unique looking. Damn her genetics. "Hmm. A rogue then. Looking for some particular spot to settle? Not here I hope." Because upgrades dude. Even creepy pervs deserved to live in better locals than this foggy, overgrown forest.

Her attitude was something that was beginning to amuse him. He was acting the same way when he was a teen. Sarcasm dripping off his every word. Now the case wasn't exactly like that. He shook his head slightly and allowed his eyes to wander to the surroundings of the are. It wasn't so bad here.. Minus the fog. As he was paying attention to everything else, but her, she spoke. His head turned back towards her and he raised a brow. "I will be creating a pride. And settle down." He explained. There was no shame behind his ambition and he wasn't afraid to share it. Her next comment caused him to rumble, not a purr not a growl. Something in between. Weird.

"No, I won't have this land as a home." He explained and turned to look around again. It wasn't to his liking. Maybe somewhere more secure and.. dark. He turned his head back to her and lips parted once more. "Won't you go and settle somewhere? Or are you strictly a rogue material." He grumbled with amusement, almost a tease and allowed himself to go closer towards her and sit himself down.

It seemed that whatever annoyance he had at her attitude never moved past that, simple annoyance as he never became aggressive as others had in the past. Well good, she wasn't stupid. He outweighed her! As he shook his head and looked around, she took the chance to glance about as well. Waiting for his answer to her question could be done while she multitasked. Sure the lands weren't the worse place she'd seen, they were lush and such.. overgrown sure but that could be taken care of. His words drew her attention once more and she nodded. A pride, it made sense that a male would have a desire to lead a pride, to have a group of others that obeyed them. She supposed it could become a family in a sense, but she didn't really get that whole concept. Having grown up a rogue, always on the run from other prides. "I see. I suppose it makes sense for you to wish to have a pride." Most males she'd met had wanted the same thing.

The sound that escapes him is weird and causes her to cock her head once again before she shakes away whatever thoughts had popped into her mind. "Well that's good. Needs work." Lots of work. It wasn't ideal for a pride in her mind. Least, that was her opinion of the lands. His question catches her off guard, and she pauses for a brief moment. "I suppose I will settle somewhere eventually. It is not pleasant being alone." And she had been alone most of her life.

I see. I suppose it makes sense for you to wish to have a pride.

Her words made sense. And of course it would make sense for him to want a pride. He wanted a home. He wanted to settle. He wanted to live. And thus his eyes lingered on hers for a while longer as she continued. Well that's good. Needs work. I suppose I will settle somewhere eventually. It is not pleasant being alone.. The thought of being alone was really something he was used to. He was always alone. He was the odd one out as a child. His size keeping a bridge between him and everyone else. A quiet huff exited his lips and he allowed himself to sit down. "You can come live with me, when I get a pride. Don't have to be alone forever." He mused with a roughed up voice. His shoulders lifted in a small shrug and he pushed himself up again. He couldn't keep still.

He moved a step back and walked to the side to take a better look at this place. Maybe he would stick around here a little longer before going somewhere else. It was kind of cozy, but not home material to him.
