OOC, potential TW : Some gore, Cannibalism, violence ect in this thread!

IC:
Apex predators tended to have very keen senses indeed. And a predator who made a habit out of hunting other predators only survived if they honed those senses to the utmost.

And Hunter had honed his razor sharp indeed. So it was not an issue catching a scent trail. Of course the fact her home had been set to this place hardly meant there was any challenge in finding said markers.

With a soft rumbling in his chest and throat the sumptuously hued molten lion approached the area he felt the scent was originating from, yet made a point of not quite crossing said line.

The vibrating murmur emitted ideally drawing her attention. If not that, then perhaps the scent of blood and still faintly warm flesh would do the job.

He had hurried to this place carrying his 'gift', pushed his athletic frame to arrive before the blood dried and did not feel inclined to drop his gift in the dirt to call out. Nor did he wish for the blood to cool an dry ... on his own body and that which originated from the limb in his jaws.

She had seemed curious on the topic after all. And it was often customary to pay a visit with a little something edible was it not? "....."

Life was beginning to set into a routine, one of normalcy. Her children were always near her now, and she wasnt worrying fiercly for them- well.... Most of them. The dark goddess stood in her dark chamber, stretching out her body. Long claws extended and long canines shone as she yawned widely, straightening up her body with a shake of her silky fur. Obsidian paws padded out of her den, into the main channel the pride called home, and out of the jagged entrance that led to it. Sunlight filtered through the hardy trees, setting her ember gaze ablaze like fire- which burned with hot intensity at the sound of a chuffing call. It was familiar, in that way that made her spine tingle- could it be him? With an excited rumble, the goddess quickened her pace in the direction it came from, paws carefully stepping over pale stone and limbs. The sight of him standing outside her borders with the strange looking meat peice made her purr. She couldn't tell what it was right away, after all- it wasnt attached to a face. But it smelled.... Familiar. "Hunter dear, oh you sweet boy, you brought me a gift~" she said, touching her nose gently to his cheek.

She arrived at what looked to be a relatively brisk pace and the image caused the edges of his maw to either side of the limb to curl upwards. An amused noise breathed out around closed jaws as she called him 'sweet boy'....he had not been referred to as 'boy' since the last time he interacted with his paternal grandfather. How very retro!

Carefully he placed the severed limb portion on what looked to be a clean patch of grass and stone. Gaze flicking up to her face even before his head lifted slowly from the gift.
"You seemed curious the last time we spoke, so I brought you a gift to try." a very rare and rather...controversial gift.

"...eat quickly, the flavor spoils as it cools." of course the very best flavor was to be had if you ate just as the breath stopped, or even before a heart stilled completely. But one worked with what one had yes? "I'm trusting you know the nature of the meal yes?" he straitened and fluidly rested back on his haunches in a seated position, allowing free and comfortable access to the meat should she take it. IF not, he would eat it of course. It was too rare an item to allow to waste.

Ember eyes studied the meat he had brought to her a bit more. It was mostly bloody, but bits of tawny fur still stuck to it, her eyes traveled down to the.... Feline paw. Her heart sped up in excitement, realizing slowly exactly what he had brought. What a gift indeed. "I'm so flattered you thought of me when you found this victim." she purred. The empress crouched, putting a paw onto the leg to secure it in place, and began to shred strips of tendon and muscle form the broken bone. The flavour was rich, very strong. It was pleasing.

Volcan had never expected to enjoy the flesh of another lion- but then again, her form was simply a vessel. One day she would be freed from it, and the flesh she wore would become irrelevant. She licked blood from her maw, feeling a mild twinge in her gut. "It's lovely, but, it is giving my stomach a weird feeling." she said. Perhaps it was because how strong it was? It was nothing like herbivore meat, in texture or flavour.

'I'm so flattered you thought of me when you found this victim.'
Yes. 'Found'. That is what he had done.

Lips twitch slightly more upwards with amusement, although truth be told he was pleased to see her positive reaction to the gift as indicated by expression and the purr.

Certainly if she felt any hesitation or had reservations with the idea they did not show. Instead he watched as she crouched and began to eat.

He is silent while she devours it, curiously watching, observing. It was only once she was apparently done and speaks that Hunter begins to speak and breaks his silence.
".....it may be hard to adjust to. There is so much more protein than in lesser meats, the richness may unsettle when more used to hoofed fare." but you know what they say, 'you are what you eat?'

When given the option Hunter chose to be an apex predator rather than one of the herd. But given a little time the stomach would adjust to eating both kinds of meat, assuming one was skilled and careful enough to continue this particular 'diverse' diet. "I'm pleased you liked it." he rumbled silkily. Lips still lifted in that faint pleased and amused smile his head leans forward just a little, nearer, closing a hair more of what was already not so much distance.

"Perhaps you would enjoy joining me on the hunt sometime." so few understood the full weight of his name after all, a fully informed and worthy hunting companion would be a treat. And an invitation he had never saw fit to extend prior.

Volcan smiled as her potiental suitor. She enjoyed his company quite a bit, and indeed would like for him to be her suitor- but she wouldn't, of course, request him be. Just tease until he requests himself- perhaps it was forceful chivalry, but the goddess couldn't care less. Her gaze became sly as he moved a hair closer, the empress in turn also doing so- the gap between them very thin. "I would love to hunt with you sometime, I can only imagine it's a thrilling experience- especially when your prey can put of a worthy fight."

The title of 'suitor' might never be one which fit this particular beast exactly. And chivalry? Extremely unlikely .. .at least in the traditional sense. For him the highest form of complement would be to treat another as an equal.

The closest to a sign of true affection and Hunter's brand of romance may well be protectiveness. A possessiveness with a high amount of tolerance for any traits which may annoy him.

"Very much so. I choose only the worthy, fight is ... required for a satisfying meal." the family code forbid attacking the innocent, and those who deserve 'punishment' tended to fight rather than admit fault. Making for satisfying hunt and kills.

"It's a date then." he purred. Amused? Teasing? Genuine? As usual for Hunter it was difficult to tell with any firm amount of certainty. He leaned back a little, not much, just enough so that he was resting easy on his haunches and smiling while looking at her features. "How do you find your position and home? " was the crown something that settled with ease, the 'power' all she had hoped for? Or perhaps had it been reviled that structured leadership was somewhat hollow with more work and fewer benefits than expected - as he had come to observe over prior observations of groups.

The goddess chuckled lightly as he spoke of prey's worthiness. Perhaps there were morals he put behind his hunts- she didnt know, but she could learn. Likely something along the lines of never harming children. Volcan wasnt sure she could eat a cub, even if they were on the menu. Ember gaze met her own dark paws, a feign of bashfulness as he mentioned their planned hunt being a date. Truth was, she didn't feel bashful- not after all the husbands, lovers and one time partners. Perhaps Volcan was promiscuous, but what did it matter? She was ensuring a root for her bloodline, that at least they would have a chance to continue after her. "My position in power is exhilarating. There is still much to do, but the respect and submission it has gained me is worth it. I simply await one to disobey me, so I can make an example of them in front of the others- but mayhaps I will never have to, I may pick loyal subjects who wouldn't dare defy me, like smart little beasts." she chuckled darkly. She sat back on her haunches at that moment, licking dark blood from her maw. "There is always a place for you in my kindom, if you wish."

If he had known her line of thought Hunter too would have chuckled as well, although perhaps for different reasons. 'Morals' was never a term he would use in conjunction with himself ... "personal rule set' being a far more accurate descriptor as he would argue what was 'moral' was about as arbitrary as 'right and wrong'. Both concepts depended entirely on one's point of view.

Her gaze dropped and his lips twitched slightly as he wonders how much actual embarrassment fueled the action. Because 'shy' or 'bashful' were not terms he had come to associate with the feline. And continued interaction did nothing to convince him otherwise.

As she spoke of her position and feelings revolving around it Hunter listened. It seemed she was not disappointed with her own tiny Kingdom, and was finding the set up what she had hoped. Interesting. Ears flicked slightly, remaining forward as she mentioned defyment and 'smart little beasts' before then broaching a suppressing offer.

He takes in a slightly slow breath, then exhales, regarding her with that smile unchanged.
"Your offer is interesting. But Darkfire, I am not one who thrives beneath the rule of another. A dark god is not one who bows, even if it is to a goddess." Hunter would never submit to the will of another.

Could he be asked to take on a set of tasks? Yes. To preform a job or fill a role? Yes. He may even follow a set of rules set down for as long as he lived in a particular place, but to be clear...he bowed his head for no beast, and would take second spot for none.
"...but if that is your way of saying you wish to see me more often..." he teased with a touch of dark mischeviousness.

Volcan's face stayed the same as he sighed, gently rejecting her offer- or, seemingly just declining a position beneath her. "I understand perfectly, my amber flame, for I was never one to bow either." she purred. His last words sent a shiver of excitement down her spine. ...but if that is your way of saying you wish to see me more often.... And that smile, that wicked, terror inducing smile that made Volcan mirror it with her own- for she would never fear any man. "I favor you, quite a bit. You are a very.... Powerful man- all your missing is a position to back up the power you hold." she said, a purr on her tongue as she stood and weaved her way around him, to place her muzzle by his ear, "Perhaps you would rather take a position at my side?"
