Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

11/28/2020 Staff
As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

11/19/2020 Staff
Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

12/15/2020 Eoin
With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

11/17/2020 Eoin
The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

11/4/2020 Eoin
It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

Spring Y11
With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

on a journey, like me.

from the ice, helayne emerges, a dark blip among the towering peaks she's managed to pass. the cold doesn't touch her, at least, not as much as it could. her curls shake off the snow and prevent the chill from shaking her resolve. there's millions of steps behind her, the woman is miles from where she started. it makes her grin, the soft type of grin she only lets escape when she's truly proud. the air she breathes is of another land, her breath is tiny billow of white that blends with her surroundings. on the horizon, there's only a splotch of green, so far that her legs decide to remind her of their pain.

still, she's already made it so far. her journey could bring about great pain or reward, but helayne refuses to turn around. so, the lioness resumes her trek. now, down the tundra.

Frost did not simply nip at his toes, but rather viciously ensnare what felt like his entire body. Despite his goliath frame he was lean, a muscular beast of little fat and with just a strip of mane blazing over his spine towards about half way down his back. The chill permeated his flesh, the wind's long fingers seeking through his fur and tickling his skin as he walked onward. His weight bore down into the snow and a pleasant though equally irritating crunch accompanied every movement, though his carmine gaze was suddenly upon something that didn't fit, an oddity among the plush white and occasional drifts of snow that blew with the stray breeze. Her chocolate figure stark and small, a blip upon the radar. Without drawing much closer his voice is smooth, trailing into the space between them as his breath whisked a cloud from his jaws. "Good day," The smooth whiskey roll of his voice was gentle, ears rolling forward lightly and once more a plume of breath rose from his lips. "are you as lost as I am?"

at first, she's too busy relishing in excitement to notice the man. it's not until his voice reaches her, strangely soft to a lioness used to harsh, gruff tones. that oddity in his tone is the only reason every muscle in her body doesn't tighten. still, even from a distance, the lioness is able to tell that the stranger is huge. all height and lean muscle. she decided that his voice didn't match his body either.

she peers at him, curious but cautious. the woman didn't expect to be immediately apprehended, but the question he poses leaves helayne quietly eager for more information. quite possibly, she concedes, breath leaving white clouds in its wake. her gaze leaves him for a moment to scan the surroundings. from what she could see, there were no other lions near them. it was confusingly secluded. have you just arrived?

He does not even realize that he is a contradiction, that his large body and yet slim figure, the trail of mane that seemed to only occupy the top of his neck and spine til the midway point down his back, were not common attributes. There has been little interaction for him, and it has been a shift to see strangers coming in droves and occupying a land that until now had also been like him; uncommon. Though sharing and opening his home - in a sense, he felt all the lands here were home, but that definition was slowly evolving to become more rigid and defined by the bounds set by others - to others had not been an unwelcome intrusion in his otherwise solitary life.

"Shamefully, no." A sheepish look crossed his face, almost handsome if it wasn't for the fact that he was clearly not completely comfortable, the embarrassment somewhat overwhelming that feeling for him. "I have lived here my entire life, though I strictly avoid it here, the cold is alienating to me." The smooth lines of his face finally softened as he remained steadily standing in place, toes somewhat moving to knead into the snow but finding resistance that didn't satisfy as an outlet. "I'm Arodion, and unfortunately now the snow kicked up my tracks and I've not figured out how to get out of here."

within minutes of entering this land, she found a native! a quiet 'oh' left her, she nodded curiously. the lioness' muscles relaxed a bit, though she continued to eye him. it seemed that it was merely bad luck that got him stuck here. it was odd though, how did you not know how to leave? it didn't appear that young or old. not like a careless 1 year old or geriatric 10 yeaar old. she huffed a laugh as quietly as possible, it wouldn't be smart to upset him, not when she had no idea how he'd react.

what would you call this land, then? helayne questioned, taking a moment to look around. it was pure snow for miles, though there was a dark smudge on the horizon. a treeline? her tail flicked absentmindedly. the woman's feet ached. she hadn't rested in hours, there was no suitable shelter on the way here. if you wanted, we could stay together until i can return you to your mother. she teased nervously, lips twitching.

What to call this land? Her question had him mulling it over for longer than may be necessary. While he knew the actual name for it, he felt he could be just a tad cheeky in responding, though he was coming up short. Wit was not a particularly honed skill of his, but he felt a little flushed in her presence and flustered by how terribly dull he'd come off. "I've heard them call it the Tundra," chicken he balked at himself as he backed out of trying to be coy, instead he relied on his tried and true method of just winging it, this socialization bit was hard. Though no longer had it been that he responded that she took a dig at him, and he could not help but relent that he'd not been braver in being witty beforehand.

Kohl-rimmed lips spread into a grin as a laugh slipped past his lips, carmine gaze brightening a little and looking more directly at her. "Are you sure you can handle the responsibility? If I'm not returned in the proper condition you might be in for an earful." It dawned on him that he hadn't yet gotten her name, but he felt no rush to move the conversation along quickly, it wasn't like they were going anywhere. However he did note that she seemed more equipped for this weather; plush for and the way it curled lightly at the edges - well it was pretty.

'the tundra', of course, it seemed fitting. her quarters rested in inches of snow, grass was visible in certain patches, and yet no trees appeared in her line of sight.

she couldn't help but wonder who 'they' were though, maybe it was too early was the deeper question, but her mind was going a mile a minute. she wanted to know more about where she was if only to see if it could be a long-term fit. it was exhausting; walking multiple worlds, adjusting to the different climates and natives in each one. this man seemed friendly, his energy was light-hearted, something that took down her typically solid walls. it was odd, the feeling that she chill out, relax, not be so defensive. i'm sure i can manage, she finally smiled.

still, her flighty gaze was stuck on the only color she could see. it was far, perhaps the company wouldn't be too bad? she needed to know: are there prides in the area? you mentioned a 'them'?

The long fingers of winter's cold finally dug through his fur and embraced the pallor of his flesh, chilling him and causing his shoulders to roll forward and his upper body to shudder as his tail lowered and tightened into a curl between his hocks behind him. The gesture was greeted by her smile as she spoke of managing, causing him wrinkle his lips into a bit of a goofy though light smile while trying to keep the cold at bay. "Perhaps we could walk together, towards the trees.. At least keep us somewhat warm." There was something genuine in his voice, something gentle in his nature, he just simply was a tender creature, and even the harshness of the tundra could not alter that.

Gesturing with his paw for her to follow he turned and began to walk slowly - his strides long but mindful of the fact that she was significantly smaller. When she mentioned them again, he realized that she must be new. He hadn't quite thought of it or mulled it over too much, nor did he now, as he chose his words. "Recently the path in the mountain gave way and many more have come here, but before that there was a sparse population. I generally stay in the southlands or the east, but curiosity drove me out here." Carmine eyes gazed upon her briefly, taking in her chocolate features once more and focusing on her eyes for a moment before looking forward towards the trees they were heading towards, hoping at least the treeline would shelter them from some of the biting winds. "Now that there are more though, it seems prides have begun forming. I don't know much of them, they're all new, but I did hear three claims ring out recently." He hadn't attended any of them, matters of bloodshed and fighting were not generally his scene. "Where do you come from? What brought you here?" The questions, though perhaps uncomfortably close to one another, were bubbling with curiosity.
