Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

11/28/2020 Staff
As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

11/4/2020 Staff
Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

12/15/2020 Eoin
With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

11/17/2020 Eoin
The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

11/4/2020 Eoin
It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

Spring Y11
With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

Lioness of Prideless
Played by Sheena

It was a rather short walk to the shores, that she was not exaggerating in the least. Leading the way through the sand, towards one of the rock pool – god she was gonna have flash backs – and easily climbing onto the rocks. “You can either wait on shore, or here on the rocks. Though stay away from the front rocks, they're slippery.” She would say after checking behind to make sure that Blue really had followed her. With that said she slipped into the water, which came up about midway on her frame. Once in the water she focused, watching as the fish trapped in the rock pool swam around frantically thanks to her entrance. She remains still, quiet. Waiting until one draws too close. She never said it was a entertaining way to get food, but it was better odds than trying to take on an antelope or something.

Patience was key, as was focus and with the waves crashing into the pool every few moments, stirring up the fish it took even longer. Yet it was worth it, for after about fifteen minutes one fish came too close and she moved. Head lashed downwards with jaws parted, dipping beneath the surface of the water only to remerge seconds later with a fish clenched between her jaws. Prize in hand .. well jaws, she turned back towards the shore. This time climbing onto the rocks was not as easy, and took several tries before she successfully managed it. A glance would be sent towards Blue before she headed back to shore and dropped the fish, a paw quickly placed ontop of it as claws dug into its scaled flesh. “Not the most entertaining way of hunting, but it will do.” She commented, waiting until the fish stopped flopping about before moving a few steps away. “Dig in.”

Blue,
Lioness of Prideless
Played by Plymouth

Blue was with her all the way, ears tilted forward and eyes eager for the food that was promised. If only she could stop her stomach from gurgling and reminding her of its damned affliction. Soon. Soon she would be able to fill it with something so that it would cease its incessant complaints.

After they made it to the shore, Wokabi told her where she could wait and Blue gave a chuff of understanding. Why use words when grunts and chuffs worked just fine? In any case, she would find a spot up on the rocks --careful of the front ones just as the red lioness had warned-- so that she could watch the proceedings. Her turquoise eyes were attentive to the woman as she walked out into the water and stood immobile for what felt like forever. It was a looooong process but she knew that not everything could be done quickly. The blue feline made sure to watch the woman's everyone move --or lack thereof-- not only to learn but also to keep her mind off of her groaning stomach. To watch the fisher cat was a lesson in solitary hunting, one that she couldn't afford to miss out on.

Blue couldn't remember how much time had passed before the red cat made her move. In a flash of movement she ducked her head down into the water and when it reappeared, there was a fish latched in her jaws. Blue wasn't even the one hunting but she felt a rush of adrenaline at the motion. Such speed! She wanted to try it herself next but for now...

Drool began to pool out of her mouth as she bounded down the rocks towards the other lioness. "Entertainment is overrated." The woman huffed as she waited for the other's words before she descended upon the fish with gusto. Ladylike was not a word one could use to describe her table manners but she was far too ravenous to care about how she shredded the fish and ate it. Stars above, it tasted like the most amazing things he'd ever had in her life!

"Fuck that's good." Had anything ever tasted so delicious in her life? She couldn't remember. One thing was certain though, she fucking loved fish! She licked her paws to get the last bits of blood from them and then she began to lick at the bones, trying to get every last bite from them.

She let out a sigh of satisfaction when it was all gone. Could she have another one? Hmm, maybe she should try the next herself. "Show me how? Please?" She finally said as she rose to her paws and looked towards the water. It went with that saying right? Give a lion a fish and feed them for a day but teach a lion to fish and feed them for a lifetime. Or something like that.

She would watch as Blue basically attacked the fish, ripping it apart and inhailing it. Some may have found the sight disturbing, others may have found it amusing... but she found it to just show how hungry the other was. Ravenous actually. Fuck that's good Her words though do draw a chuckle, and she nods. “It is, fish has gotten me through some tough spots.” So long as she didnt go trying to eat a lion fish then she should be good, those things were no fun... She had seen one in her life, washed ashore. SO she doubted the other would ever encounter one. Show me how? Please? Blue requested before standing and looking at the ocean.

She was not one who could deny the obviously hungry lioness and so she nodded. “Come, I will show you.” She murmured, before moving once more towards the rock pool. Climbing up on the rocks, she turned to glance back at Blue. “First things first, you must remain completely still. Secondly, you must be patient.” It took some time to catch a fish at times. Waiting until the right moment to strike took practice, and moving swiftly did as well. She had failed many times before getting the hang of it. She moves then, slipping back into the water and moving towards the center before halting. Waiting for the other to join her. The fish once again spazzing out due to her movements.

Perhaps fish would also get her through this tough spot in a transition from social to solitary life. It seemed promising thus far. All she had to do was find a water source and stick to it then she would have near infinite supply of prey. So long as she was quick enough to catch it. Failure was not exactly an option here.

After her request, the red lioness lead her down to the rocky pool. Wokabi climbed up and before Blue followed suite, the lioness addressed her. The blue cat listened with rapt attention, a stickler for paying attention so that she didn't miss a thing. The woman gave a singular nod of her head to show that she understood before beginning to follow. Patience was a virtue. Though she usually had less patience when dealing with other lions, she knew that when it came to prey, she couldn't afford to be hasty.

The other lioness moved into the water and Blue followed her. She shivered at the cold kiss of the liquid, but after that initial shock the cool feeling was welcomed. It felt nice over her blue coat and she was quite hopeful to begin to learn this process. The woman dared not speak as she came to stand near the other lioness, seafoam eyes on the water as she watched the creatures flitting about below them. Just as the other woman bade, she stood still like a statue. Waiting, watching before her gaze flicked back up to Wokabi while she awaited further instruction.

It didnt take long for Blue to follow her once again into the rock pools. The cool water barely effecting her due to the fact she had not left them that long ago. A slight chill yes, but not as bad as the first time she slid into the waters. With Blue at her sides she would watch, silently as the fish swam about them. “Ok, first thing first. You must wait until the right moment. Eventually they will come close enough, that is when you can either attempt to grab it with your mouth or swat it onto shore to kill it. Ive found grabbing it to be easier for me. But to each their own.” She did not mind getting her face wet, and it was quicker killing them that way anyways.

Several minutes passed, with her remaining as still as possible. Even her breathing had slowed. In.... out......in …... out..... in. Dual-toned eyes remained locked on the waters, watching as the fish would almost come close enough before bolting off. Until finally, finally one came close enough to Blues paws. “Now” She whispered, letting Blue try the first time to catch a fish. She would wait to catch her own snack, until after Blue got the hang of this. Or at least attempted it.

Stupid things, weren't they? That was how Blue saw it, anyway. Two predators entered the water and after initial scattering the fish would come back? Pfft. The blue lioness nodded her head in understanding as she listened to the instructions that Wokabi gave. Lull them into a false sense of security she supposed is what it was. Let the fish think that they were two creatures made of stone, when they got too curious then you struck them. It seemed easy enough... in theory. "Understand." Was what she would say in verbal confirmation of the lady's words.

Time passed like the slowest thing in the world. The fish swam below, not close enough yet for her to strike them. Blue watched with seafoam eyes, attentive, not daring to let her focus falter for an instant lest she lose the opening. They would move about below, always out of reach... and then one got bold. It came closer to her paws, she tensed.

"Now"

The woman reacted instantly, her head diving towards the water as she braced for the impact of the coldness on her face. Her jaws gaped, water rushed into her mouth and eyes. It was such a strange sensation, she almost felt as if she were drowning. Perhaps that was why she missed the fish and brought her head back up. Blinking, sneezing, and coughing while she lifted a paw to wipe at her nose. "Fuck..." She hissed in annoyance at her failure. Not wanting to settle for failing at her task.

"Want to try again..." She said setting her jaw and staring at the water, irritated that the fish had eluded her... and too stubborn to call it quits.
