Played by herself

Their origin was simple. A High Queen and her Lady fell in love; they married; and they started a family of their own. Wanting to regain control of her destiny, Queen Sihaya chose a new surname for herself and for their children. Her wife now-Queen Cadenza (née Imperatrice) took the name, as well, and the Makalo family was born.

The family was a melting pot of cultures: French, Italian, and Sihaya's native lineage who spoke the Sky language. Their ideals were rooted in diplomacy with both mothers boasting career Diplomat backgrounds. For this reason, politics and social graces are highly valued. To a Makalo lion, the arts of dispelling tensions, counseling leadership, and obtaining information far and wide come naturally.

Makalo leadership has shifted, however. With Sihaya and Cadenza now back in the latter former Queen's birthplace of Italia, Kilian and Lorenzo carry the mantle of their family name to the land of Aesseldar. Their goal is to lay roots here, and to start families are of their in hopes of bringing greatness to the dynasty their queen-mothers started.

IDEALS,
I. Seek compromise over violence. If a compromise is unattainable, use tooth and claw to defend yourself and those under your care. When compromise is forfeit, so is honor. Fight with underhanded tactics if you must.
II. You may take more than one spouse, but you may not forsake any of your spouses for another. Strive to love and honor all of your partners equally.
III. Betrothals strengthen bonds between prides and make compromise more probable. All royal cubs must be assigned a betrothed with a neighboring pride's cub (preferably one borne of a leader or their council) before they reach six months.
IV. Knowledge and information are your trade. Seek interactions that you may use what you know as collateral.
V. Never harm or kill a cub, under any circumstances. If you witness another harm or kill a cub, their life is forfeit, and you may use violence to enact justice.
VI. Your bond to the leader you serve is sacred. Their word is the law, even if you do not agree if their choice. The only exception is if they break Makalo law.
VII. Do not judge or discriminate against any lion based on their gender. All are equal.
VIII. Do not commit sexual violence of any kind against any lion. To do so is to face exile and to be stripped of the Makalo name. If you witness another lion committing this crime, violence is encouraged to subdue the offender so that they may face justice by the hand of their leader or (in the absence of one) yourself.
IX. Never trespass or force-claim.
X. Honor the ranks of all lions. Defer to higher ranks than yourself, and refer to them by their rank and title unless told otherwise.

GENETICS,
Sihaya has a sandy coat and red-and-orange eyes. She has lighter sandy markings throughout her body, including stripes on her face and arms and freckles on her cheeks. She has a dark brown nose, eyes, and ear tips, as well as lines that divide her coat and her lighter undercoat. Sihaya is, perhaps, most well known for her black, feathery-spotted necklace. [See Vae or Max for full reference]

Cadenza has a dark hazelnut coat and lavender eyes; her undersides are lighter in color, as well as her eyebrow dots, muzzle, and under-eyes. Her only distinguishable markings are a crescent moon marking on each shoulder. [See Vae for full reference]

WANT A MAKALO?
You can talk to Vae (who will confer with Max) about adopting younger siblings of Kilian and Lorenzo OR creating a lion who joins Lorenzo and Kilian on their journey who ultimately decided to take on the Makalo name by choice.

Alternatively, you can wait until Lorenzo or Kilian have cubs.
