Chase the Morning

Yeild for Nothing

Oh he felt the sharp looks given to him by both the planet and his moon, blissfully smiling through them nonetheless. Only a simple lip twitch would grace his face in their direction as a minimal response. He chose instead to focus on the violet girl's compliment aimed at their visage, standing a bit taller with pride but remaining politely quiet as Pluto gave his spiel on their relation to the heavens. The Dawnstar indeed kept an eye on the woman as Pluto turned to briefly greet his brother, taking the moment to step forward slightly.

"Nat. A simple name, hm?" So simple in fact that he doubted it's authenticity in being- if anything- more than a nickname. Quite alright though, for despite his cousins' displeasure at his asking for names- he wasn't as stupid as they evidently took him for. Pleasantries were the pathway towards accomplishment, and it was rather rude to not introduce yourself.

"Ha! They may as well be duplicates. Anyways, forgive the Doppelgängers' informality. My name is Charlé-Anna." The alias came out flowery, probably enough to make his cousins' eyes roll. He'd been waiting a time to use it, and being in new lands seemed like a good time to implement it, no? "And before you say it, the pleasure's all mine. Don't fret too much, we don't bite unless we have to." He jested teasingly. Although he only half meant it.

Another one of them appeared, and she regarded him much the same. This one was almost a carbon copy of the less talkative of the previous two. Given that they were nearly identical, she could only assume that they were brothers, if not twins. Because she wasn't familiar with any of them, the 'twins' shared almost no differences to her untrained eyes. This family was something else. Their gene pool seemed to produce nothing but half-maned, starry-pelted models. It was as interesting as it was terrifying -- like it should be against the laws of nature for a family to introduce this many good-looking lions into the world, she thought.

"It's my nickname," she stated the words in a way that suggested she sensed their suspicions. "My real name is kind of embarrassing. Too formal for me." Nat reflected with another airy chuckle. 'Nykhia' was the name of a seasoned healer and oracle, meant to be carried by a wise, all-seeing lioness. 'Nat' was just a lioness who wanted to learn about herbs and experience new things. She was a hub for identity issues. Speaking of, at least two of them didn't want to share their names, but that was fine. It wasn't in Nat's nature to ask. Sure, she could be stubborn about many things, but prying into something as minuscule a that? It wasn't worth her time. To the one who did share his name, she gave him a small smile and nod. Yet, to the one who mentioned her moon-patterned coat, she huffed in amusement.

"Maybe we have a shared ancestor somewhere. All I know is that when a lion is born with these," she gestured her muzzle toward the phases of the moon on her front limbs and haunches. "Where I'm from, they have to study to be oracles." Nat didn't sound enthused (because she wasn't). "But you can say I 'dropped out' of oracle school," she sounded pleased to share that anecdote. "I'm a healer, I guess, now." Her shoulders moved in a shrug. She then swept her gaze between all three. Generally speaking, she had a good feel for when a social interaction was nearing its expiration date. She just assumed with a third, that was coming sooner rather than later.

"Well, I don't want to impose on any family bonding time. I'll take my weeds and be off," she flicked her tail dismissively. "If you starry lions ever need a healer, don't be a stranger." If none of them objected, she would pick up her dandelions and attempt to head toward the rocks she had previously ascended minutes before in order to jump down. This time, though, if permitted to leave, she would begin her full descent down the mountainside to give them privacy.

C eres offered a soft laugh her way, "I'm sure it's a fine name you hold." He didn't press her to state her full name, rather he tested the rocks before hopping a couple of paces further down. He glanced back up to the others before turning back to Nat.  "Perhaps we do," He would entertain the thought, "A healer is a very noble path to pursue." Ceres flagged his tail, beckoning the Stellutimas to follow suit. His brows hiked up and his posture shunk ever so slightly. He cleared his throat.  "D-do forgive me though, I hadn't known introductions were being given," he murmured before continuing, "My name is Ciel." He smiled, the expression upon his face very much that of a lion that felt more than awkward about his presence.  "I-If anything, I interrupted your conversation. Would it…. Would it perhaps be too much to ask for assistance in travelling down from this peak?" His voice grew quieter with each word until his words were little more than a whisper above the breeze that ruffled their fur.  "Perhaps then, we could both continue the pleasantries and move down from here?" It was with this question that he looked back to his family, the immediate shift from shy to firm apparent in his eyes, his expression covered from their new acquaintance's view by a curtain of wisping fur. He wished to scale down this mountain sooner, rather than later. He wasn't about to look a gift lion in the maw. "speech" @Pluto @Anatole @Nykhia
