Something he hadn't seen in any of his travels, and that perhaps he simply hadn't heard mother or father mention, was the vastness of the sea. How the salted air blew from the never ending distance and interlaced into his fur, the particles seemingly thickening his coat but also giving it a particularly sticky texture he wasn't sold on. A trail of prints lead in even steps through the water-laden sand, every now and then erasing more and more as the waves washed ashore, until eventually they lead to him. Here he was staring at a turtle that was crawling towards the ocean, a relatively mid-sized creature which was still easily bigger than him and outweighed him by how much he didn't know - but the trail and the indentation it left indicated that it was dense. A lone paw hovered for a moment over its body before sweeping across the ridges of its shell, cocking his head to the side and sitting with a light sigh, perplexed as to why the creature seemed so unbothered by his presence as it slowly dragged itself towards the water.

"Alain." There was a touch of concern in Marcella's voice as she came within sight of her son. She generally did not find herself worried when the children wandered a bit but for some reason seeing him in proximity to the ocean gave her stomach a little twist. There would be no stopping the waves if they tried to wrestle her child out away from the land... Mercifully he was not quite in the water and instead found company with a strange thing thumping along the shore inching back to a world that it was more suited too. She sighed, smoothed over any ruffled feathers, and stepped forwards to hover over her child and gaze at the turtle too. "What have you found?" She mused in a curious voice with a slightly raised brow. She was not unfamiliar with turtles and tortoises but she had not seen many sea turtles in her lifetime. The thing was quite curious.

The reptilian dinosaur had a shell that was somewhat leathery, the fins were nothing like the land-dwelling ones, and its head had a streamline appearance. The softness of the shell and the curve was less harsh than those of their land-loving counterparts, and yet as he was touching the unperturbed creature, Mother appeared. She had such a knack for appearing in times when it seemed he needed her most - today he just hadn't known it until she arrived that a light sensation of warmth blossomed in his chest. It hadn't helped that her voice had contained a touch of sharpness, or maybe it was something else, and it had piqued his interest. "Mother!" The excitement of mother coming along and finding this ancient creature brought a strange, child-like wonder to his face that brightened it. "It's a water bug!" Ahhh well not quite close, that was just the only way his mind could reconcile the weird features of the creature, and the fact that it was insistent on going into the water. "It won't drown will it?"

Water bug? Well... Marcella could see that she supposed. "It's a turtle Alain. Like those little ones who pop their heads up out of the watering hole?" The ones that dipped back down and swam away when rambunctious cubs got too close to the water's edge for their comfort. His concern for the creature though was touching; not that she imagined either of them would be able to stop the turtle for long. The thing looked like it had enough will to move the earth if it needed. "I think it'll be fine- at least..." She eyed the sea turtle a bit more closely; the lines in its rough skin and the old world wearly look in its soul through its eyes. "... it looks like it's made for the water." She lifted a paw and gestured towards the flat and broad fins the turtle was using to hoist itself closer and closer to the waves in spite of her son's concerns. Anyways things didn't get to be so big doing stupid stuff like drowning themselves right?

A turtle, but this one was so big that his face contorted into a mildly perplexed look towards Mother. Today was a day for many big things, and though perhaps she would appreciate it less, his curiosity got the better of him and as it pulled away from his paw and began to sink into the edge of the water his green eyes lost focus. They washed over the waves and even glanced towards the lapping tide which came closer and closer every time before they rounded back on Mother. "Why can't we do what they do? Why are we not made for the earth and the water?" What if he wanted to swim and to explore, to have no bounds in this life? Though he'd already learned his lesson about waters and breathing - they don't go together for him, but little did he know that this creature couldn't also breathe water. To him since they lived there and were nearly one with their environment, surely they breathed it.
