The Snow Dragon

He would chuckle at the thought of something he had grown so used to being new to another. "It's a nice new, trust me." He had once been the same way. Isolated in the world but since finding most - if not all - of his Tollaire family and even marrying Hecuba that had changed. He craved to be around familiar faces. Around family he cherished and protected. He was possessive like that. "The Tollaire have a tight bond with one another. We don't take to betrayal in our family very nicely." And though he would never betray his family, he wasn't sure if anyone else would and hopefully he wouldn't have to.

"It would seem so," Seraphiel agreed. At this point, he'd go for anything nice. This was a place of fresh starts for everyone, where they could all begin anew and forget whatever troubled them. After hearing what chaos had come between the two kings in the past, Seraphiel felt it was no doubt for the best for Drakon and his family that they could get away. Of course, it would have been better if such a thing had been unnecessary to begin with, but one couldn't always hope for that. Trouble was bound to find you at some point in your life, regardless of how hard you tried to avoid it.

"It's good that you look after each other so closely," he commented. Sure, betrayal hadn't been tolerated back home either, but it hadn't been due to any sort of familial bonding like Drakon was speaking of. Seraphiel knew enough to know the difference, though, and he much preferred the latter. They were blood, and they would protect each other. Simple as that. It was loyalty that came from the heart, not from fear or ruthlessness. "You all care for one another, it's only natural to take not threats to that structure lightly."

It's how I was raised. Granted my mother raised me but I knew my place." And he did. Granted sometimes he felt like he shouldn't be where he was but there was something's stopping him and that was mostly his respect in his family and well, every thing else that had been engraved into his mind and should since the day he was born. "Were your family not like this?" He didn't know what it would be like if the Tollaire were not a close nit family. It would be tragic. Chaos. No one to control the dragon's that roamed the very ground everyone else walked on.

Seraphiel had to wonder what it was like to be raised by a mother. To even know who she was. He supposed he could have found out, but it hadn't mattered for the longest time, and when he did begin to question and wonder, he didn't see the point in trying to figure it out.

He chuckled at the question of his own family. "You couldn't even call us a family," he admitted. "Just a king who did what he wanted, took what he liked, and made us all go along with it. The strongest of us were the ones who carried out his orders, his enforcers I suppose. No one dared question or challenge him." He rolled massive shoulders in a shrug as he continued, "By the time I began to question him, the damage had already been done. I've done things I'm not proud of in the name of a man I no longer wish to follow. There's no way to atone for it, but I still try." He knew he'd never manage it, though.

It was clear to him that he had missed out on quite a bit, but that was okay. He'd learned many hard lessons, and they had shaped him into who he was now. At least he had learned and changed, and wasn't simply the bloodthirsty creature the king had wanted him to be.
