Hecuba had never seen such brilliant water. It was such a piercing, crystalline blue that it made the lioness gasp softly upon approach and trot eagerly down the shore. Sure, the pebbles were bothersome as her paws trudged through them, but the view alone was worth suffering through the ones that lodged between her paw pads. It was something to be dealt with at a later time, however, because she had one goal in mind: swim. It had been so long since any stagnant water had seemed appealing, but this was something else. Hecuba waded slowly into the shallows, wiggling her toes in the shifting sand beneath. Without having to battle waves, it was effortless to move and eventually push off into the deeper portions of the pool. She paddled leisurely, breathing a sigh of contentment.
