Hecuba didn’t know how long she stayed out in the water, simply paddling around without a care in the world. The reality was she had several thousand cares, of course, including two missing daughters and a pride she sorely missed. Things had never been easy before, but at least they had been more stable than all of this. The lands were foreign and in a sea of strangers, Hecuba craved something familiar. Someone familiar -- outside of Drakon, of course. It was unlikely anyone would have managed to follow and if so, they certainly hadn’t been in a hurry.

She thought.

The lioness heard her before she spotted her. Hecuba’s head snapped towards the voice, seafoam eyes widened in surprise. “Arcania?” In a rather graceless display, the woman frantically paddled towards the shore and sloshed through the water until her paws met the ground. From there, she threw herself at the lioness with outstretched arms, eager to tackle the familiar face to the ground. “I’m so happy to see you. You never have to hike again, I promise.” Not in pursuit of her, anyway.
