She had been having issues with the polyamory aspect of Asmodeus's life, despite knowing up front that he was not monogamous, but being made his Queen helped her deal with those issues. At least, until Dumah arrived from a neighboring kingdom, to be wed to Asmodeus to cement an alliance.
Dumah gained Asmodeus's favor quickly, with a beautiful earthen-toned coat with dark brown patches of merle, and a no-nonsense attitude. It drove Azazel mad to watch the pair fall deeper in love with each other, and finally the Queen snapped - with an attempt on Dumah's life that forced King Asmodeus to kill his first wife.
After that, Dumah rose as the new Queen Consort and head of the King's harem, and wound up bearing children of an allied King from another kingdom to cement the alliance. Asmodeus endorsed this, and three of the children went to other allies to join their courts as beloved members. Two of the children stayed with Dumah, in the Morningstar Court, with the expectation that one or both of them would eventually marry one of Asmodeus's children by one of his other wives.
Peace cannot last forever, though, and eventually natural disaster struck the Morningstar Kingdom. Asmodeus and his wives and concubines (several of which were pregnant at the time) were forced to flee their kingdom, and have since regrouped. Many lives were lost, but the core of the kingdom has managed to remain together and now find themselves in Aesseldar, looking to rebuild what they've lost.
II. For an individual to become a Consort, they must wed a legitimate royal (the King/Queen or a Prince/Princess) in a binding ceremony led by a Priest or Priestess. Simply agreeing to be mates will grant the spouse only the title of Concubine, and their offspring will never be able to rise higher than the rank of Archduke.
III. You do not murder, pillage, or steal from allies or your kin. Killing in self defense is one thing, but if you are found to have spilled the blood of an ally or a kinsman without just cause, you will be named traitor, your name will be stripped from you, and you will be summarily executed.
IV. If a Crown Prince or Crown Princess is named by the King/Queen, that decision must be obeyed until or unless the King/Queen changes their mind. Naming a specific heir is often a tactic used to try and avoid a civil war between siblings who may otherwise attempt to fight for control of the throne in the event of the King/Queen dying unexpectedly.
V. With regards to ruling, the sexes are considered equal and must be judged on actual merit. If a daughter proves herself a more worthy successor than a son, she will be the one named as the official heir to the throne.
VI. The King/Queen's offspring by illegitimate spouses are referred to as Archdukes or Archduchesses, and keep their rank even when a sibling ascends the throne. All Princes and Princesses keep their ranks no matter what, and pass the rank down to their legitimate offspring.
VII. Any offspring by a Royal Consort that is not by the King/Queen are granted the title of Duke or Duchess, making them still members of the nobility but unable to do much of anything. Offspring of Royal Concubines who are not by the King/Queen are given no special titles and remain as commoners.
VIII. Only legitimate offspring and their official spouses may carry the Morningstar name. Any offspring can become legitimized if their parents become officially married, assuming that one of the parents is already a legitimate royal.
IX. Bastards may not be used in alliance bargaining - only legitimate heirs may be married off to cement alliances. If one wishes to marry off a bastard heir, they must first legitimize them by making the bastard's parent an official spouse for a period of at least six (6) months.
Royal Consorts;
Barachiel - [2y, 9m]
--- red fur, possibly smug about birthing the Crown Princess, might be angling to take Dumah's position from her; up to player!
Nephilim - [5y, 6m]
--- cool toned fur, one of Asmodeus's first after Azazel, good friends with Samyaza
Samyaza - [5y, 6m]
--- warm toned fur, one of Asmodeus's first after Azazel, good friends with Nephilim
Sarathiel - [2y]
--- cool toned fur, alliance marriage, probably a little uncertain of her place in the harem
Royal Concubines;
Azrael - [2y]
--- warm toned fur, sent over as an alliance chip, may be angling to become an official wife before bedding Asmodeus
Cassiel - [2y]
--- cool toned fur, sent over as an alliance chip, potentially ambitious
Raphael - [2y, 9m]
--- warm toned fur, as of yet no ambitions to become a Consort
Princes & Princesses;
--- may be resentful toward Dumah about the death of their mother, or resentful towards Michael for being named Crown Princess; up to players! They could also be resentful of their mother's inability to deal with her jealousy, as her attempt to murder Dumah has put a stain on them. They are a litter of triplets (they do not have to have identical pelts/markings; they can just be structurally identical) and would likely be very close with each other!
--- Michael's twin sister, probably supportive of her, but it's up to player!
--- may be resentful of Michael being named Crown Princess; up to players!
--- may be resentful of Michael being named Crown Princess; up to players!
Archdukes & Archduchesses;
--- may want her mom to become an official bride so she can be a princess/may yearn for higher status in the family; up to player!
Dukes & Duchesses;
You're also welcome to create a new character entirely, to fill in any of the ranks below <3 I'm definitely open for an arranged husband for Michael, or a husband for Ariael, or more wives/concubines for Asmodeus!
As a note, the Count(ess)/Viscount(ess) roles belong to the spouses of Archduke(chesse)s and Duke(chesse)s, respectively.
