He was drawn to the rainforest, a reminder of his birthland. This particular one seemed wetter than the one he came from. From the outer edge of it did he look in to observe the shifting shadows and the holes cast into them from the sun above. He could see the low branches were thick and strong, the temptation to climb growing until he would give in. Thick ebony talons would sink into the mossy bark to hoist himself up a nearby tree where he would move to perch on those branches. From there, he would begin to traverse the forest for something interesting.

For some reason the rainforest called to her tonight. The dense brush and vines tangled into one another the deeper she got, her coat feeling somewhat bogged down by the muggy sensation of the air here, as though clinging to her pelt and weighing her down. Debris underfoot crushed softly under her toes, and her yellow eyes scanned the area with each step forward the deeper she got. Every once in a while the darkness would come more and more, consuming her before light broke through the thick canopy, clearing a path once more until it happened to fall on the form of the lion within the trees themselves.

There her gaze lingered upon his strange form, he who seemed so comfortable on his wooden perch, before her voice snaked from betwixt her lips and darkly sang into the space between them. "Do you make a habit of keeping the monkeys company?" Her toes stretched into the earth beneath, claws poking from their sheaths and lightly tilling the surface of the soil.

His movements gently shook the tree limbs as they bore the full might of his large frame. The sound was as soft as the wind through the canopy. The interesting thing he was searching for would discover him first. Her voice drifting up to him and causing him to pause. "Do you not climb the trees?" He would inquire. His pastel gaze turned to the dark crimson lioness, curiosity flitting upon his features.

Not one exchange and she was already beginning to tire. Of him, of this, of everything. She no longer felt in the same state of mind as when she'd arrived, and it was draining her patience. The fuse of which had been cut short several times over and she no longer knew if the culprit were others or herself. Teetering on the verge of danger and boredom she continued to prowl through the underbrush in the darkness which covered it, presented by the dense canopy above.


"That is not the place for a lion of any decent quality." Which creature hung with the monkeys like some sort of pleb? She harbored little desire as her saffron gaze scanned the trees to get a closer look at him. "Seems like quite a weakness if you were to find yourself somewhere barren." What was he to hop from tree to tree? She wondered what kind of lion he was, but on the same train of thought wondered if it was worth her energy.

Runar raised his brow at her statement, a bold and brash one. No place for a lion of decent quality, eh? Has she ever seen the world from the tree tops or anything? There seemed to be a shroud of distate that fell over her. He did find it amusing at the suggestion of his tree habits being a disadvantage in a barren landscape. Duh. It's not like he lived in trees. If anything, it was a near useless skill for pure enjoyment. The striped lion would perch upon a branch, gauging the distance to the ground below him before elegantly jumping down from the mossy branches several feet in front of her. It wouldn't be great if he crushed her. Runar would land with a wet thud, the mud of the rainforest floor spattering around and up his legs as he straightened to look at her. Their size difference was obvious, he towered over her in all sense of the word. "You make it sound like I live in trees and I'd be lost without them or something." He would retort, settling his pastel gaze on the crimson lady. "That wouldn't be very well rounded, would it?" @Erenvel

Their biggest differences lay in the fact that she didn't remember what it was like to feel pure enjoyment or do something for the mere hobby and pleasure of it. Those were things that she'd left in her childhood, having grown up to want nothing more than power, to crave a battle and demand respect from others. She had grown in the shadow of the Dragon's command, at the whim of the Witch's wiles, and somehow she had surpassed their darkest shadows; here she was a product of rage and enigma.

When he jumped down there was something about him that she liked, though perhaps it was just the animalistic and instinctual side of her. The side that craved raw power and simply liked the allure of his size, though still her face lay befouled by a wicked sneer. "If not to live nor to be useful, then what do you go there for? You would think a lion such as yourself would have so much more to preoccupy himself with." Her voice thinned sharply as her ears rounded forward, mane threads rippling against her face as her saffron eyes glanced uninterruptedly at his own.

He existed for the pure pleasures of life. He endured all the shit life could throw at him just for it. There was a glittering to be found in his gaze as she continued to speak. There was that bit again about a lion such as himself, which he was beginning to think was a compliment. There was a standard she seemed to already have and he seemed to be somewhere around it. ""There is a beast in life called pleasure."" He would begin, his voice rumbling forth to answer her. ""It doesn't matter what form it manifests itself as, I need it. That is what I occupy myself with."" Runar would take a step closer to the crimson lioness. ""Don't you know of it?""

The lion's proximity and his words turn her attention. Saffron gaze captured by his star orange striping and his black coat as her lips pull tightly and the breath hitches in her lungs. Her breast is frozen and her ears rotate towards the side of her skull as her lips continue to tighten and her nostrils flare, heavy with the cologne of the beast. Her voice finds its strength once more as her shoulders tense, mane rolling against her left cheek.

"Pleasure? Perhaps we take pleasures in drastically different things. But do tell me, what is it that you most please yourself with?" Her brows come together momentarily and she wondered what direction this conversation would go in. What was pleasures in a tree when you could be leading a pride towards great success? She knew nothing other than honor and chasing what had been a fruitless journey of circles since she'd arrived, though she dare say there was a hint of curiosity at his words.

What did he take pleasure in the most? His pastel gaze darkened as the response crossed his mind. "The body." He said simply. "Something that is always available." Runar was quite aware of his tall, dark, and handsome existence. He worked it to his advantage. Though he was not a shallow beast, there would perhaps be a woman or a few who would get him to settle. The possibilities were endless. "There are other pursuits in life to partake in, such as power." The statement would suggest that he was not directionless. There was something he did want that was not his in this moment. So, what would she do from here?

Tantalizing and salacious as his answer was, she was not as enticed by the thought of a body in a sexual manner as she was in an aggressive one. The way to appeal to her nature was to stoke her greed, appease her ego, and those had never come from looks to her. They had come from the visceral and animalistic things that made her who she was. "Bodies seem to be readily available, does that not make them boring?" The quirk of her brow was slight as her saffron gaze shifted.


With little ease in the ways of her sexuality, with little experience in sensual interactions, she strangely found herself underhanded until he spoke of power. At this her claws knead into the earth and her breath hitched momentarily, her pulse slowing as her chest rose deeply. "What would you do in pursuit of power?" Would he take it, had he already taken it? Curiously she edged forward a little closer, drawn in by the interesting conversation.
