Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

It was time. Time to create a home. Time to rule. Time to thrive.

His walk was hurried. Adrenaline passing through his veins as he walked through the forest. The setting. The shelter. The view. He liked it. It was his kind of home. Lush. Green. Full of life. Full of shelter. One must know the land to not get lost. And this was what he was doing all day. Getting the land of the territory. Finding the shelters. Finding the places he would like to be under his rule. And so right at the center of the forest he halts. His head high and his eyes scanning all the nature around him. His ears cupped forward. His legs spread and his muscles and body ready for anything that might come at him. Anyone that might come at him. Anyone that would want to challenge for his Forest.

Jaws parted and he let out a roar. For anyone and everyone to hear that this was his and he would fight for it. He was claiming this land and he was going to make a home out of it!

Like his shadow she followed him, deep within the confines of the forestry around him. Minerva had bound herself to him, wherever he went she too would follow. She would protect him, at any and all costs, and would support him through whatever endeavors he sought to follow. She tossed her mane from her eyes, speaking of eyes those two plum jewels watched him intently as he moved, the loud roar erupting from his jaws. Her ears cupped forward with interest, tail twitching behind her as her eyes moved to quickly scan the terrain. She watched and she waited. She waited and she watched. If the strangers here were smart they would not challenge him, and even if they did she would be right there, waiting. Waiting to witness their demise. Minerva finally moved a few steps forward out of the shadows, a low chuff directed towards her King. She halted, remaining motionless then as she waited.

There, a voice she recognized sounded out, a call of a claim and she could not help but smirk to herself. He had done it, he had done as he had said and found a place to call home. She knew he had offered her a place with him in his pride, a place to call home... but that was before she had found her father, her Da. Still, she figured it would hurt nothing to show support to the only other male she'd met except her father who had been halfway decent. Moving swiftly across the lands and into the lush rainforest he had decided to claim. It was an upgrade she must admit, not as overgrown and dank as the woods she had met him in. Oh sure, there was still humidity in the air but here it was not suffocating. Here it was tolerable.


Up ahead she spotted him, standing in the center and waiting for any who wished to challenge him for his claim. But he was not alone, another stood there. Larger than her own frame, another female who was dark in color stood there. She barely paid her any mind though as she moved up to stand mere feet – a safe distance – from Barnabas. "You've been busy." She drawled, before glancing once more towards the other female and finally offering her a brief, polite nod in greeting.

Oh my god, why was he here again? This shithole of a jungle was full of insects, mud, wet leaves, debris and a list of creatures that could kill you with a single tiny bite. The humidity destroyed his well-combed red mane and made his beautiful acorn pelt moist, bringing a chill down to his bones. Tch, his brows furrowed above green eyes that frantically looked for a way out. Suddenly he came to a stop, ears twitching at the distant call, head turning around at the opposite direction.

Ah, screw that. While he wanted nothing else but to get out of here, he was too curious not to go and check out what that ruckus was all about. His heart fluttered at the notion of a big gathering, the last few months having starved him of any bigger social interactions. Being alone wasn't pleasant at all. Peeking between some trees, he saw two women at first. Better than nothing, he supposed. Then he saw the one who most likely just staked a claim on this shi- unpleasant territory. He came out of his spot to finally show his smug face. "Hun, I think you're picking the worst house out of 'em all." He declared loudly, while looking around. With the corner of his eye, he scoured over the gargantuan man. Why is everyone so big here? Did they eat magical mushrooms or something? His gaze searched for the challenger. "I mean.. look at this shithole. Every day will be a bad hair day for ya." He scoffed at the thought, then a smirk pulled on the corner of his mouth. Yes, he was enjoying himself very much right now!

"The fella be right." Her own voice interjected. She arrived only at the tail end. The initial claim had pulled her from wasteland with her second not far behind. However, Rue was never the type to go slow. Eyes cut from the brute who had made his remark of the land, to press them on the brute she assumed from the claimer. A crooked smirk on her lips. She still remained just to the edge of the brute's area. Perhaps a few lion lengths from them all.


"I don't reckon th' land suits ye. Or that ye deserve that claim." Her words are precise to the point. Not time wasted to beat around a bush. The lady took a few more steps into view and stopped with a slightly widened stance to center her balance. Ears fell back to her cranium as claws pressed on to the ground."Ye willin' t' fight fer it? Cause I be."

She had been hanging out in the wasteland with her sister when the claiming call rang out. Drawing her sister away from where they had been relaxing. Her interest piqued, she stood and trotted after her sister. Ever obedient, ever loyal to her captain and sister. They of course arrived after others who had been closer, but she too caught the tail end of the tawny males' comment and smirked to herself. She knew why they were here then, even before her sister spoke the words. So these were the lands her sister desired to go after? She stood back a few feet from her sister, but clearly with her. There for support for her sister, so she stands silently. Watching the larger pale male for his response to her sister's challenge. Briefly, she was worried about her sisters well being, due to their size differences but she quickly pushed it aside. Her sister had this, that she was sure of.

The wait for someone to show wasn't long. Though the first one that showed up was Minerva. He greeted her with an almost soft smile, but his attention wasn't set on her long. Wokabi came not too long after and he gave her a nod with a smirk and a rough shrug. He decided not to speak. But he was ready for anyone else that would come. That would dare to challenge him. A bright male appears from the greenery. His red mane an eye sore to the beast. He shook his head and listened to his words, only to dismiss them as soon as the words of some else came behind him. Head turned slightly and he took a step forward.

The remark caused his brows to furrow and his lips to rise. Her question was heard and he didn't waste any time in replying. Actions spoke louder than words. Legs spread slightly, eyes narrowed and ears hid in his mane. His scrunched up muzzle was revealing large canines. The white brute would aim to close the distance, claws unsheathed and digging into the earth for traction. He would attempt to snap his jaws against the female's scruff, while his right front limb would attempt to collide with her side and aim to dig his claws into her skin. Back feet would spread evenly for balance, while his left front limp would stay on the ground to better the balance claws digging into the earth.

She barely had time to noticed her sister arrive. If not for her scent that greeted her, it would have been missed entirely. The other two ladies were ignored for the moment. Her focus on the brute. Luckily she had been watching. Eyes caught the shift of muscle as he lurched forward. Her limbs braced for the weight of his impact. Thankful for the short distance she had left between them. While it did not aid to bide her much time, it was enough to allow her to shift just enough so that his teeth would not find her scruff and instead braze the upper surface of her shoulder. His claws were able to reach her skin on her left side- yet nearest to the start of her fleshy hip, yet they did not pierce much further than the surface as of yet. Luck was on her side for the moment.

Her own rear limbs remained braced to attempt to remain in place with his added weight pressed at her front half. Immediately she opened her jaws wide as her head dropped inches and attempted to sink them into the flesh of his left leg, just below the thickness of his chest.

His attempt to grab her scruff was not successful, nor did his claws did the damage he wanted. His jaws clicked closed and his right foot fell to the ground with a thud. Claws digging in the soil. A growl of irritation rippled through his bared teeth.

Before he could react her jaws grasped his left leg. Another growl as pain rushed through his body. His reflexes kicking in. He would turn his head and attempt to sink his jaws right at the base of the back of her head, where the scruff connected with the top of the head. Meanwhile his right leg would lift in attempt to grab her shoulder and sink his claws in an attempt to hold her.

There was pain, but she pushed through it. Her sister waited to heal whatever wounds may come of this tussle. She had his leg and that is what mattered. She was thankful that he had no hold on her left half as it was able to lock and try to hold as his teeth and claws returned to her flesh. She could feel herself tiring from his size, but she held fast despite the damage it caused. Instead, she diverted the pain to her jaws. Teeth attempted to sink further in. As her right paw dared to lift just high enough to try and sink along to the backside of the limb.
