He stared at the girl in silence as she spoke, perhaps quiet for longer than was comfortable in an encounter like this with someone unfamiliar. Finally, Kaden reclined on his haunches in a seat against the sands below. He had resigned himself to settling in for something longer than a brief introduction, for now it seemed like they were getting introspective.

"You're implying that it is desirable to no longer be strangers and that fear is something one should not create," he pointed out thoughtfully. "I don't think that's the case. I think fear keeps us from being stupid, which keeps us from getting killed by strangers," he laughed in spite of it all.

He kept gazing at her, waiting for her to speak again despite his jovial retorts. Her ideals seemed entirely different from his own and thus fascinating in their own right.
