Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

11/28/2020 Staff
As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

11/19/2020 Staff
Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

11/4/2020 Staff
Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

11/17/2020 Eoin
The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

11/4/2020 Eoin
It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

Spring Y11
With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

The sun was risin’ to its peak up in the sky, warmin’ up the rather chilly air. Winter was not far away, slowly makin’ its way to the world. Soon enough there would be snow a plenty that will blanket all the surroundin’s. And Lucien Hanover could say with a strong passion that he was not too happy about that thought. Nay, he were a man that enjoyed the warmth of summer. The hotter the better was what he always said. To be able to sprawl out in the sunlight and soak up all the warmth it offered was somethin’ he enjoyed to the fullest. Somethin’ he was missin’ somethin’ awful right now. But that was enough ‘bout him reminiscin’ ‘bout what he missed.

Golden eyes would glance ‘round him, takin’ in his surrounding’s. Where was he? The dun man would take it all in, the flat land that were riddled with rocks and weeds. It was a harsh lookin’ area, with the magnificent view of mountains in the background. It was... beautiful. At least to him, anyways. He was raised in a land like this, and comin’ across it made it seem like he were meant to be here.

And maybe he was.

As she continuously crossed the expanse of the land, she was beginning to pick up on more and more scents of lions. They were still relatively scattered but certainly more apparent. Either natives that were only now venturing forth and preparing for winter or incoming lions that had been sent from another land. Either way, it meant an excuse to socialize and Tintalle was all for it. The goliath of a woman - strange for her nature - set forth through the Steppe in the expanse of ground before allowing her gaze to fall upon a similar figure. Not familiar, no, but he was just as large as she forcing her to feel a little less like a tower amongst a mouse town. The view is lovely, isn't it? For nothing ever really compared to the expanse of nature but when you see it all drawn out before you it was hard to ignore.

He would soon be accompanied by another, a lady nonetheless. Not that Lucien was opposed to havin’ a lady ‘round; it was actually refreshin’ not havin’ to continually assess another male and havin’ to feel like he needed to keep his guard up while creatin’ conversation. And it’s not like he didn’t think women weren’t worth keepin’ a watchful eye on, it was just he felt more at ease ‘round them than males. Well, most of the time.

Skull would turn to the side in the direction of the lioness, golden eyes landin’ upon her form. Black lips would curl into a rugged grin. A nod of his head would be given as half of his response to her comment, a deep rumblin’ sound given as well in agreement. "Absolutely," a drawl of agreement would come from him then, ears prickin’ forward through a thick mane of ebony. "It’s a familiar place t’ me. Reminds me of home." Attention would be pulled away from the lioness and back to the expanse of flatland, lookin’ out to the horizon once more.

This beautiful valley was certainly something to be admired no matter where you set your paws to walking. Each place had its own beauty - even if it was scary, smelly or hard to travel through. There was always something to be said about a place that just made you say wow. Tintalle had been through most every territory at least once so she had a good idea as to what she loved most about each. Not that she had anyone (yet) to share that knowledge with. I take it that you came from a desert or plains pride, then? My own family preferred to stay near to a waterfall. Something about it they couldn't let go of. Even when it slipped out of the family's paws, they always found a way to reach back for it. Stubborn folks that weren't willing to let their ancestry of the place go whereas Tintalle believed that family was wherever and whenever. She'd never quite thought the same as her family anyways but certainly one tiny blip on the radar of why Tintalle couldn't stay with them any longer. I am Tintalle, by the way. Casually offering the goliath a name so that she might perhaps embark on a more personal journey with him.

"Plains, yeah. Somethin’ ‘bout bein’ able t’ see as far as the eye can see brings a sort of calm t’ me." Findin’ a place already that felt so much like home seemed like such an accomplishment to him. He didn’t think he’d find that so soon, but it was somethin’ he was surely happy ‘bout that he did. Lucien was sure from this findin’ alone that he was most likely goin’ to like it in these new lands and it only made him more compelled to venture out further and to take in all that he could.

The lass would give her name to him, gaze fallin’ back onto her. "My apologies, Miss Tintalle. Name’s Lucien Hanover. Pleasure t’ meet ya’." Head would bob in a formal greetin’, tail swishin’ to the side. The dun man would move from where he was standin’, positionin’ himself so that he was now fully facin’ Tintalle. "Ya’ wouldn’t happen t’ know where we’re at, would ya’?" A brow would rise as he posed the question, wonderin’ if she knew where they were at at all. He smelled other lions whenever he arrived here, but maybe they were all lions that were new to the land. Or maybe they were inhabitants already and he was one of the newest ones.

A quiet hum resounded within her throat as she listened to him express that the Plains was where he'd come from. Certainly not somewhere that she could see herself very often or much at all, she could accept that this was someone's beauty. That he enjoyed seeing as far as he could see and revelling in its beauty. Where she said endless dirt, he saw a landscape that was endless and asking. Who was she to rob him of such pleasure?

A pleasure to meet ya, Lucien. Formalities still not being exactly up her alley but she was eager to continue on the road to familiarizing herself with the lions that were coming in to make this place home. This whole valley is Aesseldar. We currently are upon the Roskurr Steppe. A place she was certain he would committ to memory and likely never leave. She might not have wanted to live her life next to a waterfall until death but she did find comfort whenever she found water.

"Aesseldar... Sounds odd." The name rolled off his tongue rather awkwardly, havin’ to mentally say it in his mind a few times before speakin’ it aloud. It was a better name than what his last home was, which didn’t have a name at all. Or at least he didn’t know of one nor did he ever hear it be said. Lucien usually called it the plains or, well, home. And what sounded even odder was what this piece of land was particular called. "Sure has some interestin’ names here," the man would retort in a fairly amused manner. If roskurr steppe was what this was called Lucien wondered what other unusual names he’ll come across for the rest of the land.

A moment of silence would wash over the two, Lucien takin’ the time to allow for golden eyes to take more of his surroundin’s in and lettin’ the fresh air expand his lungs, holdin’ it in for a moment before slowly exhalin’. Eyes would close as he did this, his lips still pulled into a grin. "Have ya’ ever felt like ya’ found what ya’ were lookin’ for without really lookin’, Tintalle? " A rather deep and philosophical question would he ask, wonderin’ if the lioness would find him either weird or askin’ too much of a stranger.

In some ways, Aesseldar did have a weird ring to it but after you've said it a few times it wasn't nearly as odd. Certainly not as odd as some, she was certain. In the very least she was eager to find a new place to call home as she had grown bored of her den prior and needed a new plan of action for a temporary stay. There are a few, she comments though isn't quite sure why. She didn't think they were that weird but perhaps it all depended on where you came from.

As for the surprising question, she felt like she'd hit a rather hard wall and didn't know how to appropriately respond. Tintalle was still rather young and hadn't really stumbled across much of anything. So she didn't really know if she was looking for anything at all. Can't say that I have, actually.. she exhaled slowly before adding in a I imagine that must feel quite nice. to know what you were looking for and finding it while not actually looking for it.

Lucien had no doubt that there was more names he’d find that rolled awkwardly off his tongue. But he’d deal with that when he happened across them. Shoulders would roll and the dun lion would find himself allowin’ for goliath form to lower itself into a seatin’ position. Rear would place itself upon the dusty ground below, body alignin’ so that he was sittin’ tall with shoulders pushin’ back and movin’ a bit to get his mane to fluff out a bit. Ahh... Lucien didn’t realize how tired his body was from travelin’ until he allowed himself to actually take a break. Paws were poundin’ with both relief from constant movement and dull pain from walkin’ on them so much. And to be able to just rest was just what the doctor ordered.

More silence fell between them as Tintalle pondered his question. He was pretty impressed and surprised that she answered it at all, a low rumblin’ ‘hmm’ vibratin’ in his chest. "I must say it is nice, Miss Tintalle. But when it happens, you’ll be able t’ feel it." Was he even makin’ any sense? Perhaps not. But at least it made sense to him. "Have ya’ been in Aesseldar long?" Another awkward roll of the tongue as Lucien asked a much more simpler question, one that he could only assume she wouldn’t have to rack her brain about.

After months of keeping herself company, being next to someone felt surreal and (dare she say it) awkward at best. Most of the time when she talked to boys (nevertheles, men), her brothers had always been there to ruin a good friendship. Even if that was all it was there were almost always there to scare the guys away so she'd never even gotten a friendship with any. This was something new entirely to have an entirely uninterrupted moment with a guy.

So as he sat she took it upon herself to sit next to him, still keeping a foot or two between them for both their spaces. I'm sure I will once it hits me, but seeing as her youth was still in her rearview mirror and still in front she couldn't be too sure what she was looking for. A home was a nice try but she wasn't certain that she would find one here. It had been rather empty the last few months. Oh, uh... like the last few months I've been here. She knew enough to give some information to some places but when it came down to it - she didn't know all that much about its history. Only that she'd been pretty alone here for a little while and was thankful to have some extra company.
