Lioness of Prideless

He confesses he’s not used to talking to women. This was sort of obvious to her, but she smiles at him nonetheless. It was sort of nerve wracking for her too, when she first started flirting regularly. Always worried what she was doing was too much or not enough, or that she was utterly failing. What she had learned, though, was that confidence was key, and so she said as much to Jessie, “women like someone who is confident! Just go into it not worrying if you’ll mess up. Even if you do, many would find it endearing and know it’s genuine and not rehearsed.” She normally didn’t mess up, which she supposed may come off as ingenuous, and sometimes it was. It wasn’t often she found herself nervous or fluttering with new feelings for someone.

He begins his tale of his home, citing his native language and such, and so she sneaks in a quick compliment, “yes, your English is very good! I’m impressed.” Of course she’d noticed the accent, but didn’t feel the need to comment on it, as she understood him just fine. He was very passionate, speaking about his home, and she looked at him with genuine interest and admiration. Her head came to rest upon her paws as she looked at him. He spoke of the flora and fauna, of the various seasons, and she could picture the area vividly just from his description. His eyes fell back on her, and she smiled at him.

A traditional pride hierarchy… yes, her crew and herself had come across a few of those. They disliked the fact Finn and the other men traveled with them, but still made time to trade with them. Knowing they may get their goods stolen otherwise. She wasn’t sure, after his question, if she should tell the truth or not, but decided she would trust him. She had no reason not to. Her golden head lifted from her paws, taking a deep breath before she began to speak.

“As far as I know, I was born into the group I travel with now. My name, Marisol, comes from Spanish, another language I speak, it means sea and sun. I’ve seen many lands in my time, and I’m still part of that group, many of us grew up together, that group is my family.” She took a deep breath, looking and feeling somewhat… vulnerable. “Moving was always what we did. We would go into prides and trade with them. But we never stayed for very long. I have seen deserts that stretch for miles, huge lakes it took days to get around. Mountains so high they practically were in the clouds. But it’s hard. Never having a home. You can describe yours perfectly, but some places I have only faint recollections of. We’ve come here… to see if there’s anywhere to settle, but I’m not sure we ever will.” She stopped, looking a bit shocked at herself. What the hell was that? That was really. Open.

She looked at him, a false smile plastering on her lips, it even looked fake. Mari stopped after a moment fidgeting and batting at a braid upon her mane. She shouldn’t have said too much. Anyone knowing that much when she knew she may spy in the future could complicate things. Rue was going to murder her for treason, damnit.
