Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

11/28/2020 Staff
As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

11/19/2020 Staff
Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

11/4/2020 Staff
Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

12/15/2020 Eoin
With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

11/17/2020 Eoin
The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

11/4/2020 Eoin
It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

Spring Y11
With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

Rue,
Lioness of Prideless
Played by Cat

She had settled by the brook. Its soft sounds rather soothing to her perked forward ears. Eyes of the palest blue roamed the furthest reaches of the Steppe. Unsure who, or what may roam here. She had yet to fully explore the area, though it lay so close to the lake she figured it was a good time to start. She had used an empty, half-broken turtle shell she had found to scoop water within and toss it on to her side. The dirt from her still-healing wound was washed away. Another scoop made sure she got it all before she eased into a sit.

She would just have to do this herself, it would seem. A disgruntled call emerged to call whoever remained to her. There were to be rank shifts since her second was no longer with them.

@Vex @Finn @Teuta @Marisol @Walford

-we had a couple of members leave the site/set inactive so this is to check who remains from the pirates and to appoint a new 'second in command' crewmate. -

She'd been waiting for the call, and now that it came it wasn't exactly in the area she'd anticipated it being, but she was fine with that. She'd just been lingering about the lake as she usually did, so it was simple enough for her to head over to the steppe to join the captain. Who still looked a little worse for the wear, actually. Not exactly that surprising, she guessed. Things were just like that. "Ahoy captain," she said cheerfully as she approached, plopping her hind end down. At least this time she was the first to arrive, though the captain didn't seem too delighted this time around. No doubt she had some bad news for them, and Teuta could only begin to imagine what it might be.

Marisol hadn’t really been anticipating a call from the Captain. But she supposed it had been awhile since they’d all been together. She was anxious to see who would show up. She wondered if Finn would show up. Luckily, she’d been not too far from the lake, and though it took her a while to get there, she ended up being second to come upon the Captain, Teuta seemingly the first. She smiled politely, nodding, “Ahoy, Cap’n.” She took a seat next to her fellow infiltrator, giving the grey female a polite nod as well. She flipped some of her mane and braids from her face, wondering what news could possibly be waiting for them to hear. She noted that Rue looked a bit worse for wear, but her wounds seemed to have healed somewhat.

Finn,
Lion of Prideless
Played by wallflower

Foolish his sister had been, he thought, as she appeared worse for wear still. He continued over the rugged terrain to answer her call - again. Always holding meetings, Rue seemed to. Pale blue eyes peered around the much smaller group, wondering what had happened to some of their numbers. Pirates were a crew who's loyalties wavered depending on the day. Finn wasn't overly surprised to see a few had left, though he was disappointed by this prospect. Bringing on new crew mates meant several idle threats or having to sham another into thinking they were trustworthy lions. Though of course, Rue was likely more trustworthy than he was. Fanged mouth opened as he side-eyed his sister. None were loyal enough to stay, they couldn't necessarily trust Marisol or Tueta, as was evident by the lack of healer and even their other sister. A frown marred his chiseled features as he roamed closer to the crew. "This it?" He grunted. Still ever lazy to want to help his sister do much, but obviously energetic enough to show up at the most inopportune times. "We 'ave t' get ye patched up, Sis." Whilst he cared little about what the crew actually attained at this moment, for it wasn't within his wishes to gain territory necessarily, he was concerned by the wear and tear on the Captain herself. After all, she ran the operation and without a second in command he would likely have to step up in responsibility roles.

It took time for them to arrive, but soon she was not alone. Teuta was the first to arrive and Rue found herself thankful that the femme she had been raised with had not left them high and dry as the others had. Next was Marisol, another of the few she had been raised with. So young they had all been, that some didn't even know they were taken from their own homes. Rue and her two siblings were also that way. Regardless, she was glad to see the two.

It brought a slim smile to her lips that she allowed to stay, even as they fell apart to speak. She did not manage to find her words, however, before her brother made his appearance. His words bothered her, but she hid the fact. "Vex be around here somewhere." She grumbled beneath her breath. She ignored his mention of her health as she took her stand. "Th' rest has marooned th' crew, 'twould seem. This leaves me chief-mate position open." She felt a great loss that Kieran had left them.

She had always held stronger feelings for the brute than she wanted to admit. "I still plan t' find us a more permanent place t' anchor. So scoutin' 'n all that could be extra useful right now. Even if we gotta infiltrate." She pointedly turned her gaze to Marisol, since that was her strong suit. Though of course, Rue would be picky where she allowed her friend to jump in.

Teuta made a cranky sound at the thought of part of the crew leaving them. How dare they!? They were family, and one didn't abandon family. Especially not to go live with some land-lubbers, or whatever they'd disappeared for. Oh, if she ever came across them again...

Her ears perked at the mention of chief-mate, wondering who Rue might appoint to the position, but it seemed her curiosity would go unsated for the time being. A large part of her suspected it would be Finn, considering he was her brother and all. Her true brother anyway, as compared to the rest of them.

Rue turned her gaze to Marisol beside her when she spoke of infiltrating, and it took all of Teuta's power not to pout. Behave yourself, she chastised herself. She wanted to go be helpful to the crew, but if the captain didn't want her to do something then she wouldn't be doing it. Simple as that.

"There be lots of calls for claims," she commented, thinking of how many she had heard. "None be stayin' long." Prowling the borders of prides had revealed faded scent markings more often than not, she'd discovered. It made her wonder, at the very least.

Marisol glanced up at Finn as he passed, though trying her best to make it look like she hadn’t. Instead opting to look at Rue. Though he did mention needing to patch up their Captain, and Mari couldn’t disagree with that. Though she didn’t know much about herbs, perhaps she should learn. They were without a healer now, and perhaps they should all know the basics, really. She glanced at Finn again, hating herself for being so obvious. Though she had been since they were yearlings, if she was honest.

Rue spoke again, and Mari’s attention shifted back to her, she wondered if Vex was truly around, or if Rue just hoped she was. Mari hoped the lioness was around here somewhere, after all, they’d all grown up together. At the mention they’d been marooned, her face shifted, an evident frown forming. Chief-mate was open? It would probably be Finn, then, although Mari knew his work ethic was a bit… sub-par. But it’s not like Rue had many to choose from. Mari wouldn’t mind seeing Teuta as a Chief-mate, but wasn’t sure if Infiltrators were allowed to take that position (not like it mattered if it was a rule, Rue was Captain after all.)

At Rue’s next statement, and glance at her, she took this as her time to speak. “Actually, I’ve had some luck on that part!” She grinned, “I’ve learned of a pride called Ignis, they live near the lake, they’re ruled by a family with the surname Embre. I’ve met two of the Empress’ sons, the princes, both have markings along their backs that look like fire. Although, I haven’t met the Empress herself.” The grin did not stop along her lips, knowing she’d done pretty well, “Sefu, one of the sons, is pretty lazy lipped, plus, it helped I flattered him beforehand, and he told me that they were a fairly small pride, mostly made up of family. It could be an opportunity for me to infiltrate.” Mari would stop speaking to let her information sink in with the others. Sure she’d infiltrated before. But she wasn’t sure she’d ever gotten this much information before even stepping foot on official territory.

She mostly brushed off the antics of her brother. She was attached to him, but not too much so that she would place too high of a rank upon him. She knew his capabilities and the faults that kept him from fully exploiting them. Still, her love for him would never be denied or betrayed. "Teuta be second now." She exclaimed. Marisol was a perfect candidate as well, but her more meek nature was not fitted for such a position just yet.

She gave a nod to Teuta as she mentioned how none of the claims last. This was something the pirate captain had noticed as well. It gave her faith that when the time comes, she would have an easy take over of their own land. Perhaps the perfect little cove on the shore. Attention shifted to Marisol as she interjected with her new information. She listened with an open mind to what was offered. However, she couldn't avoid the stifle at the mention of the opportunity to infiltrate. Of course, it was her job, but Rue always hated to part with a crewmate. Even if it was for a limited time.

"Good job. If we can get ye in, we can find thar grub cache 'n perhaps see if 'twill be worth a takeover." Even if they had to sneak the food out, it would help while she got closer to the others.

She found herself utterly surprised when her name came out of Rue's mouth in the same sentence as second. "I won't let ye down captain," she promised almost reverentially. . She'd do what she could to show the captain that she deserved the title, though she'd never anticipated getting it. She was careful not to show her surprise though. That probably wouldn't be good either.

Marisol had some interesting information that she was eager to listen to, and not just because she wanted a moment to process her new title. She wondered if Rue would be agreeable to her infiltrating when they had so few members of the crew hanging out with them. Personally, she didn't want them scattered to the four winds, even if she knew where they were. But, she wasn't the one in charge and she knew that it was important for them to get more information on the prides around them... assuming they could last longer than a few suns of course.

"Seems like it shouldn't be too hard to do," she commented of getting Marisol into the pride. Who would suspect a gentle flower like her? That was likely what made it easier for her to infiltrate than Teuta. While the fiery woman could tone herself down and behave, she just didn't look the part. Oh well, she'd rather look like she did and have a slightly harder time, honestly.
