Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

12/15/2020 Staff
Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

12/7/2020 Staff
TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

11/28/2020 Staff
As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

11/19/2020 Staff
Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

11/4/2020 Staff
Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

12/15/2020 Eoin
With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

11/17/2020 Eoin
The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

11/4/2020 Eoin
It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

Spring Y11
With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

She'd left the shores, passing back through the wastelands. Her paws were weary, her eyelids heavy, and she could barely keep her head up to keep walking. Sleep. She needed it badly. Except, the heat in this place was far too abrasive for her liking. She couldn't just keep walking around like this indefinitely. So, as she traversed the wastes, she began to look for something, anything, where she could bed down until the temperatures were less extreme.

There were rocky outcroppings here and there but nothing that looked suitable... until she found a cave-like structure. It wasn't very large and it wasn't perfect, but it would do for her to squat in until she was well-rested enough to keep traveling onwards. The woman walked over to the rocky outcropping, nose and eyes alert for signs of another creature there. All she saw though, was a rather pissy looking honey badger. The thing snarled at her and in reply she unsheathed her claws and roared at it.

Thinking better of trying to challenge a full-grown lion, it began to scurry away. Blue thought about catching it for dinner but knew the reputation of the irritable creatures. The likely scenario was she'd end up with claw marks and wounds all over her face and only a snack for the trouble. No. Later on she'd worry about the food problem...

So, the woman settled down into the now-cleared den area and curled up into a blue ball so that she could rest.

Despite the cooling effect that blew down from the tundra, the waste was a place where it never seemed to feel anything short of scorching. Befouling the mood of the red lioness was not a particularly hard task, and when the sun mercilessly beat upon her hide to the point that she felt like the skin was pulling against her bones and her fur would spontaneously combust, her dark lips pulled into an irate snarl. The curling flesh of the bridge of her nose rippled in disgust until something in the distance caught her attention, saffron eyes turning upon the distraction with more enthusiasm than her body cared to emulate. Nearly sauntering until she reached the point of interest, a rather young tortoise, she questioned why she'd even come here in the first place. Taking the creature between her jaws for some entertainment, she began to seek a temporary shelter, toes sinking through the sands in a place where her claws felt more like decoration rather than being of any use. Begrudgingly in the distance she spotted the outcropping of rock that provided the only shade, the ground underfoot beginning to harden and become more loosely decorated with sprouts of grass and a mixture of gravel, soil, and sand that was slightly more permissible than what she'd dealt with up until now.

However it seemed that she'd been beaten to the point. As she drew nearer and happened to be just close enough to feel shade enclose over her body - thank god - she saw the curled up slate-colored form. Her jaws released the tortoise close to the earth and possessively put a paw over it, claws grappling into the shell and holding it in place with her weight. There was a distinct lack of empathy in her voice as her ears folded backwards, mane skittering away from her eyes with a light toss of her head. "You dead?"

Sleep without dreams. That was what encompassed her nap. It was rest that felt amazing and that was cut short way too soon. "You dead?" Came the callous sounding voice from outside her temporary home. Blue's eyes snapped open as she turned her head quickly and sat up so that she could look at the other lion. She didn't like to be caught out resting like this by another creature, when she was dozing it usually meant that she was defenseless. When she was defenseless, there was no telling what another lion could do.

Blue's eyes narrowed as she stared at the creature with the pinned reptile. Too close. Too close for comfort this maned, red female was. She didn't answer the other's question, it was pretty obvious with her quick reaction that she wasn't dead. "Taken..." Was what she said instead because she could only assume that this other lioness wanted to use this spot to sleep, to get out of the heat. Blue wasn't about to share, it was what she found first and she didn't trust this random lioness not to bite her throat while she rested.

What she wanted to do was lie back down and resume her nap but with the other lioness here, that was a pipedream. There was no way in hell she was going to relax herself around this one.

Quick and snapping reactions from the other's body matched the tone of her voice as she responded, as though equal parts startled and angry. An inquisitive brow raised as she grumbled to herself for a moment, sneering with a bit of sarcasm as her claws lightly unsheathed to trace the rough and uneven ridges of the tortoise's shell. "Alive but clearly stupid." Taken was not the answer to her question, for it was not a question of whether this place was taken or not (even if she'd needed to settle with a body). She didn't care if her abrasive nature offended the other, she didn't care if it started a fight, what she cared about is that she was hot, she was tired, and she was cranky as heck. Without even asking further questions or even with a courtesy (which had not been extended to her in the first place), her lips turned into a soft snarl as her nostrils exhaled the pungent scent of the stranger before really taking it in and dissecting it. "Now even more taken than before." She remained settled into the spot of shade that just barely covered her body, not moving closer but also not moving at all - not away, not out of here, nothing.

For some reason she looked worse off than even Eren may picture herself to look, and though her ears settled at half mast across the sides of either direction of her skull, her nonplussed expression settled back once more after her lips were done crinkling dryly. "You waiting to die out here?" Well, if the other one attacked her it might give her something to do, even if she was dreadfully befouled by the sweltering temperatures and had really been looking to enjoy the toy that still remained trapped under her foot. The tortoise hadn't so much as moved, its feet all tucked into its shell and its head tucked in so far that all you could see was the rigid snout just between the two bends of its forelimbs.

"Alive but clearly stupid" Blue bared her fangs at the other lioness, clearly angered by the words as she lashed her tail. "Fuck off." She snarled at the red maiden. However, her calls would go ignored as the other lioness spoke again. Hinting that she was about to-- "No. Get lost." Not as if the other lioness had asked for a spot nor her input, but she gave it anyway. Blue's eyes narrowed as she unsheathed her claws, hackles rising as she was the picturesque form of a pissed off lioness as the other gal took a spot in the shade.

Half of her wanted to swat the other woman or forcibly chase her away but the more reasonable side didn't want to get unnecessary injuries by fighting another lioness. It could be the difference of life and death when you had no pride to depend on to help you heal when you had to get all of your own prey or have to treat wounds because of stupidity. Of course, she was still quite pissed that the other woman was here and she backed away as far as she could get to give herself room.

One could practically feel the waves of annoyance radiating from her pelt as she sat with her side leaned against one corner and her rump on the ground, glaring daggers at the red lioness. "None of your business if I am or not." Because she just felt like being contrary and not humoring stupid questions. If she was intent on staying here then she wasn't going to make the stay pleasant. Still, her eyes were locked on the other lioness... watching in case she made any moves to try to fight. She didn't want to get wounded but she'd fight if she had to... and she'd make sure to do it dirty enough that if she didn't win then the other lioness would have something to remember her by.

The snarl and retribution of her companion's voice etch a wicked smile across her dark tinged lips, her tongue sliding against the carmine hued bridge of her muzzle and settling itself back within the cradle of her jaws in one single movement, sweeping over her nostrils and deepening the way the scent of the stranger lingered within her lungs. The thin threat that hung on Blue's lips "get lost" deepened her wicked grin as a low growl rumbled within her breast. "You're welcome to make me." An idle threat that hung loosely on the fact that it could be an exciting endeavor. The only thing holding her back from attacking and forcing her to learn her place was the fact that she was dreadfully lazy, scorched by the heat of the day and unwilling to exert more energy than necessary in riling her up. They appeared to both be in the same boat however, both tired and too weary to exert more energy than necessary. Very well then, like it or not (and she did, she really enjoyed crawling under the skin of others) they were stranded here.

The only thing covering scars upon her pelt was the fact that her dark red coat grew plush and was well maintained. Beneath her flesh tightened with memories of fights, unwilling to let her little size make her a pushover. "Well it's my business for the next six hours until the sun goes down, lest you think we should sit here and scowl at one another until I can't take your ugly mug anymore." Her wicked grin slowly evolved into a malevolent but strangely pleasant smile, the glint in her yellow eyes growing. "I've got a tortoise and we have a lot of time to kill, your turn." Perhaps she'd suggest something with the tortoise, or maybe she'd get told to get fucked once more.... The flick of her tail at the side of her thigh indicated a mixture of irritation and pleasure.

"You're welcome to make me." She could hear that growl, infer that threat. Blue didn't take kindly to it and for a moment she unsheathed her claws and considered launching herself at the other cat. What would it accomplish though? A tussle that she had a fifty-fifty shot of winning? A tussle where she'd no doubt end up injured no matter if she won or not? It wasn't worth it... no matter how satisfying it would be to rake her claws down the other's face.

The glare in her eyes, one that was considering taking the other up on her offer stiffened as she snorted dismissively, throwing the idea out of her head entirely. It just wasn't worth it for a bit of space. The red woman would move on eventually.

Although she'd be a thorn in the blues side until then.

Ugly mug.

Well, she knew she wasn't pretty so the insult didn't really phase her but the entire stream of words did. "Fine with that... If it's so ugly, maybe you'll leave so you don't have to look at it anymore." The woman snapped back with a snarl.

Oh jeez, and what was she smiling about now? Blue didn't like that look in her eyes one bit.

The woman geared up to make a retort but then... what? The tortoise? Her eyes snapped down to the thing that the red woman had trapped. In the heat of their "debate" the blue had forgotten about the thing entirely. It was inconsequential in her mind. It was inconsequential now but having been asked what she considered an asinine question out of the blue --ha-- almost disarmed her. "My turn? ...What?" She looked back up at the red woman. Then back down at the turtle. Then the woman. And then the turtle. "The fuck are we supposed to do with it?" It was a turtle. Not exactly easy to get into the shell. More effort than she was willing to expend on a lackluster amount of meat. There were plenty of fish elsewhere and rabbits that she could track down. All without annoying shells.

You could trust that she wasn't one to mince words, nor was she one to care about what words those were. It was so deeply ingrained within her to lack that impulse control, the way in which the dragon's blood had fused with hers and passed on in the breeding had been equal parts fortunate and dreadful. There was no question that she was a Tollaire, and sometimes that got her into trouble. The unstoppable tongue of hers with her bad temper had gotten her into a fair share of battles, but she was also just as lazy and willing to watch events unfold. It was a strange, unbecoming side of her in which sometimes she wanted the prolonged suffering, and who knew... who knew where this would lead. She remembered with vague irritation the first time she met Brighid, the hatred that she felt over the lioness for purely selfish reasons, but how much they had grown and now they were friends.

Friends. That was a weird word, a weird sentiment to have towards someone that wasn't family, and it wasn't a frequent occurrence for her.

"Being a bitch won't get rid of me; I told you, six hours." Her voice was thin, lips curling once more towards a snarl but the traces of her wicked smile persisted from behind. "If you have another recommendation for passing the time, by all means I'm all ears." Hopefully those suggestions weren't as daft as whatever it was that was contained within that dense skull of hers. In an attempt to at least pass the time - unless they preferred six hours in painful, agonizing silence staring one another down, maybe that wasn't a bad alternative - she attempted to change the subject. "I'm Erenvel." Once more her claw arched over the tortoise's shell, making an unpleasant scraping noise and her lips peeled into a low snarl, her voice deepening as her gaze shifted form the creature at her toes to the creature a few feet away from her. "What happened to your face?"
