Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

11/28/2020 Staff
As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

12/15/2020 Eoin
With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

11/17/2020 Eoin
The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

11/4/2020 Eoin
It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

Spring Y11
With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

The giant of a man was carried across the undergrowth of the woodlands. Gradient paws are large compared to most and carry the Snow Dragon over the ground easily enough. Though a male, he shows grace in times instead of brute strength. Drakon doesn’t go crashing through the undergrowth like a bear on the loose. There would be no point in scaring away the possibility of prey in these lands. Lands that are unknown to him. So here he was, exploring the areas to see if he could find any of his family, though he was sure Hecuba was nearby, Drakon was in search of others.

Arsynia had spent days slumbering in the mountains, nestled among the white rock peaks and the snow that sheltered it from the yielding summer. Seldom did she stir from her place, content to watch the valley stretch for miles from her perch, and the sun rise from the distant horizon where the sky met the sea. Eventually, however, she stirred from her idleness and descended down the mountainside toward the forest below, exploring the new land once more.

She'd met few others already, but still yet could she not shake the aching feeling that stirred in her chest. For too long had Arsynia abandoned the prospects of other lands in favor of remaining nomadic, but Aesseldar felt different; she felt something compelling her to stay, fettering her to the mountainside she'd first arrived from. And then she saw him; perhaps a small, distant part of the internalized, instinctual desire to remain. But even the presence of his white pelt flickering in between the trunks of the ancient pine trees felt as if they were a promise of more to come.

“Drakon,” she breathed as she approached, “you're here too.”

He was not left alone for very long as a familiar voice and scent found its way towards his nose and it caused the white dragon to stop in his tracks. Ears twitching as amber jewels would seek out the lioness he knew but didn’t know all the same. ”Arsynia, I thought you were lost.” He had been worried for the other Tollaire’s not knowing where they had all ended up and where they had been lost. Yet, if Arsynia was here perhaps the others were as well. So, Drakon would turn towards her form and move closer to her. ”Are there other Tollaire’s here?” He had been their Patriarch in the other land, but here? Would they follow him?

Drakon Tollaire was a man she'd met only once or twice; before the ruinous conclusion of their homelands forced their family apart, driving a wedge between Smaug and his wives and his children and sending them desperately into the world unknown. She'd been lucky enough to have been too young to leave her mother's side, but each time she'd come across Drakon or any others in her travels, it would not be long before something had driven them apart once more. Arsynia could not help but feel compelled to fetter them to her now; to chain them all so they could not escape her again. She kept the overwhelming urge quiet, let it burn in her belly and sear her flesh so she could remain steeled.

Arsynia, I thought you were lost, he said upon her approach, and Arsynia's tense shoulders fell away, her narrowed eyes widening, no longer scrutinizing. Are there other Tollaire’s here? “Not that I know of yet,” she responded, hiding an edge of frustration in her tone. Would Drakon's coming be an omen for more, or were they destined to plunger Aesseldar for brothers and sisters who would never materialize? Did she not owe such a duty to her family, did she not owe them her life for the entire horde? And yet, Arsynia could not help but feel selfish, in a way. “But I'm sure there are more to come,” she lied, trying to feel hopeful. Fate had always disappointed her in the past. “And you are here now...that's all that matters.”

Though they had only met a few times, it wasn't hard to forget a sibling from the Tollaire line. Each had their own perks of Smaug; a habit that showed the dragon that laid in dormant to most. Drakon welcomed his dragon and if anyone knew who he was they could see it. But if he could read her thoughts his own greed would show through as well and perhaps that would be to much. However, Drakon's thoughts were snatched away when Arsynia began to speak again. "A shame." He would muse, though it was soft in words, it was loud with his baritone voice speaking. Amber jewels watched her closely as she would speak of him being here now. Where did this put them? "We are both here and that is what matters." Family was important to him and Arsynia was no different.

A shame, he responded, we are both here and that is what matters. Arsynia nodded, but couldn't shake the pit in her stomach. The reaffirmation of the Tollaire's presence in Aesseldar threw a fork in a path she was not yet ready to split. Arsynia had operated on her own volitions for so long: forged her own allies and enemies, walked her own path. But now she'd have to bare another name, another face; she could no longer be anonymous. And she could no longer be in the same place of power that she had once wanted. It was almost easier to bare the weight of the Tollaire name alone. Now, she'd had all eyes upon her, and she needed now more than ever to decide if she was going to shirk at the responsibility, or shine through blisteringly bright.

“Join me,” she finally declared, after long moments of breathy silence, “let the Tollaire no longer remain fractured and blighted.” She'd had little idea of where to start yet. The idea of claiming a pride for their family was something farther off—Kaden himself had warned of the chaos that would soon erupted upon the exodus of lions spilling into the lands. Arsynia knew now, at least, to wait in the shadow and bide her time, to see if they could find anymore of their family hidden among the masses.

There were many things that Drakon could think of outside of this very moment but there was only one that he would focus on. Finding other's. Finding family. And here was one, but he needed to know their plans. One day he would go for a crown and wanted to know if she would follow. "What are our plans? I plan to seek a crown and set the beginnings of the Tollaire Empire as before." They could deal with that later, they were nothing if it was just them. Yes Hecuba was here and she would follow him where ever he would go, standing at his side where she would always be. But would Arsynia?

Already she could feel the fire swelling in her breast, tickling the back of her throat and threatening to spill forth. Her claws anchored into the ground, tearing up the soft firmament underfoot. What are our plans? I plan to seek a crown and set the beginnings of the Tollaire Empire as before. Arsynia's ears twitched at her response. She'd been part of the youngest litter, but she'd long borne witness to the war the Tollaire's were forced into, the throes of battle that came afterward that blighted the land and separated their family. Was Drakon yet so eager to toss themselves into such a situation when now it was only the two of them? Part of her knew she should listen to the eldest of them, but now more than ever she needed her father's guidance, and the burning soul within could not fetter her from her own ambitions.

“Not yet,” she affirmed, “to join the hordes scrambling for crowns now would only weaken us. We will lay low, gather allies, and when the time comes and our numbers grow larger, stake a claim that will be supported by an army that none would dare to challenge.” Her words were bold, but resolute, hoping desperately that they would not be alone. At the very least, Arsynia had already met two men who'd had their eyes on their own crowns: and if both were successful, she might have very well gained two allies of her own.

He maybe eager to find them a home again but Drakon was learning to become patient and knew that sometimes, patience was key in what they needed to survive. Hence why he had asked for her opinion in this. So there he stood, taking in her advice as she spoke of staying low and waiting. A nod came from his massive head. "Then let's find our family a home. As rogues we won't be as strong as we need to be. Find allies, and then in time if we've found more I'll call a meeting so that we can all discuss things together and what we've all learned about this place, hm?" Granted he assumed that most if not all of the Tollaire would seek to stay in the same pride as each other so that they could stick together.

Arsynia Tollaire burned alight; where once there was hesitancy now there seemed to be only an inferno, untempered and unyielding. The icy barriers she'd built for years stripped away, the idealistic machinations and distant dreams of rebuilding their kingdom so far off, yet suddenly so achievable. Drakon's suggestion of finding a pride was not something Arsynia discounted easily; she had only considered finding a territory left otherwise empty and unclaimed to temporarily live in until they could officially organize, but perhaps the prospects of living under Kaden or Barnabas would be more suitable. It would strengthen their alliance, perhaps, or it could fetter them to a King who would seek to tear them down should Arsynia drive half his members from him for the sake of conquest.

“We will make that decision later on. I have already begun to meet with the newest Kings of these lands,” she responded swiftly, firmly, authoritatively. Arsynia Tollaire began to sow the seeds of dominance, and even though she stood smaller than her brother, she was unafraid in her approach, I will call a meeting, and I will ensure the uniting of our family once more under the same banner.”

So long as their father was gone, Arsynia would choose to burn in his place.
