Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

12/15/2020 Staff
Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

12/7/2020 Staff
TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

12/5/2020 Staff
Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

11/28/2020 Staff
As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

11/19/2020 Staff
Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

11/4/2020 Staff
Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

12/15/2020 Eoin
With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

11/17/2020 Eoin
The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

11/4/2020 Eoin
It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

Spring Y11
With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

Joyous was one way to describe her, not only had she found her Da but she had met her uncle as well, and learned of other Tollaire who were here. She was no longer lost, scared and alone. Of course she would never admit that she was scared, not out loud at least. But inside her own head, in her own mind she could admit it. Because she had been, but now she felt safe. So there was a happier beat to her gait as she headed back to the wastelands once again as it was here that she felt connected to both parents. Stories of her mother growing up in a place kinda similar but not exact. First an Oasis, then a crater... both were not your typical places to live and yet her Ma had.

Dual-toned gaze shifted upwards towards the towering rocks once more, still wary about how sturdy they were but they were the few sources of shade here. So still she moves into the shade of one, before lowering her rump to the earth and simply being. Nostrils flared taking in the scents in the air, listening as the air blew across the lands. Muscles relaxed where she sat, mind at ease for once.

The gnawing in her gut was far too incessant to ignore. She was hungry and with or without a pride, she was going to have to hunt. It was annoying, how dependent she was on the shitheads but she would prevail with or without them. The blue woman was far too stubborn to just roll over and die without giving it a real go. She would make it, she would live, and she would find something to hunt.

The woman was out in the desert heat. It didn't feel great but that was something that couldn't be helped. Food first and then her comfort would be next. So, the woman walked out of the place she'd bedded in for the night and began to try to track down something to eat. Her mouth opened, testing the air as she tried to locate something to hunt.

There. She could taste the pungent odor of a fox. Not her first choice of food but beggars couldn't be choosers. So, she followed the scent on light paws as she finally was able to locate the create as it tracked a mouse. How poetic.

Blue lowered herself to the ground as she stalked it, looking for the perfect opportunity. However, it seemed as if the wind changed as the fox twitched its little nose and then looked back across the sands. Blue's pelt was not exactly adapted to the sandy landscape and very quickly the fox let out an alarm call and dashed away. Blue snarled in frustration then took off after the fox. The sand was not easy to run across and she felt as if she was sinking and couldn't get good traction as she chased the creature. In the end, she lost it in a hole and the woman barely managed to skid to a stop before she smacked into it.

"Shit!" She hissed in frustration, turning away from the hole and towards a place that she hadn't noticed. There was a tree there, a shaded area with a red, white, and black lioness. Great... She didn't want her failures broadcasted to everyone.

She had not been there long when the sound if shifting sand reached hear ears and drew her attention. Dual-toned gaze turned towards the sound, catching sight of a fox fleeing for its life. But from what? Shifting to face the direction completely, she soon found her answer as a blue lioness came into view. But....why was the lioness hunting a fox? She herself had never even considered it, as it seemed a wee bit close to cannibalisim for werent they related in some way? Or no? She didnt know, they looked like they were though. Shaking the thoughts from her mind, she watched as the lioness failed at capturing the fox and it fled into the distance.

Ears flicked forth, catching the others hissed word and smirking to herself. It was then it seemed that the other noticed her sitting there watching her. She did not seem thrilled to have had an audience to her failure. So she moves then, closing the distance between them with ease until they were but feet from each other. Leaving the shade of the stone pillar was something she regretted almost instantly, as the sun beat down on her heating her pelt even in the chilly air. “It happens to the best of us. Perhaps luck will be on your side next time.” She attempted to soothe the other womans bruised ego. Rump settled upon the earth, ears flicking back slightly as she took in the females slightly smaller build. “I am Wokabi Maat-tollaire.”

Her tattered ear flicked in trepidation, she was unsure if she wanted to hang around or not. Would the other rub it in her face that she'd missed her catch? Ugh, that was the last thing she needed right now. Hot, hungry, and irritated... except... it didn't seem as if the other lioness was about to rub her failures in her face. The other lioness walked towards her, unafraid, and Blue braced herself for the barrage of words she was likely to hear. In fact, she had several scathing remarks hiding behind her tongue. They were ready to be unleashed like dragon's fire should the other say a single thing to--

“It happens to the best of us. Perhaps luck will be on your side next time.” The azul cat almost seemed to be visibly shaken by the relatively kind words. She blinked her bright eyes, the impassive expression giving way to a flicker of surprise before she regained her mask. "Hopefully..." And then, as if to enunciate her true desperation the woman's stomach let out a loud groan.

Thanks, stomach, really appreciated that...

The other lioness sat down in front of her, hardly perterbed by her presence it seemed. Blue wouldn't fully let her guard down however, and simply watched the other lioness without sitting herself. "Blue." She said giving her own name. "Just Blue." No last names, no fancy monikers, she didn't have the privilege of such things. Her mother named her plainly for the first trait that was noticed and left it at that.

Blue eyed the other lioness, curious if this here was a native or not. There didn't seem to be much by way of those. "Live here?" The lioness asked plainly, wondering if today would be the day that she was able to glean more information about this place.

The other female seemed standoffish if not worried, and it confused her. Did she expect to be ridiculed for missing a kill? Having lived on her own for the past year, she had missed her own kills plenty of times and thus felt as though she had no rights to ridicule another for missing something. Not when it was in such terrain as a desert where the sand made it difficult to hunt, let alone catch a fox. She had caught the look of surprise before it was shuttered away and the other responded with her own single word of hopefully. She could only offer a soft smile then before rolling her shoulders in a kind of shrug.“Sometimes luck is a bitch set against you.” Least thats the way she viewed it. If it was true or not she did not know..

Just then the others stomach let out a loud groan and she glanced down, before looking once more to the blue womans face. “That explains why you were after the fox. If you want, we can take a short walk to the ocean. There are fish there, and I am pretty good at fishing.” She would offer the other, it wasnt much but it was better than nothing. Many times she had survived off of fish in the past year of her life. Blue. Just Blue. Wokabi stored the name away, noting the lack of family name. Of course it wasnt that odd, meeting one with no such name. Some dropped them when they walked away from their families. “Pleasure to meet you, Blue.” Live here? Was she asking if she lived here in this land, or aesseldar? Either way she knew the answer. “I am new to the lands of Aesseldar, but am currently residing within these lands. Are you from around here?”

“Sometimes luck is a bitch set against you.” Wasn't that the fucking truth! "Facts." The woman huffed and gave a long-suffering sigh, her tone almost betraying a bit of amusement. If luck was an actual entity then she would have some choice words for it because fuck her luck. It seemed as if since she was born it was all pinned against her... or mostly against her. Not everything in her life had been terrible. It could always have been worse, she supposed but hell... it seemed as if she hadn't had the lion's share of good or even decent luck.

Uff... she was hoping that the other hadn't noticed her growling gut but, of course, it was probably loud enough to wake the dead. Wokabi correctly ascertained that her desperation in going after the fox had been borne from hunger. Otherwise, she'd never stoop down to eat something as unappetizing as a fox. Still, she surprised again when the other offered to help her fish. Blue blinked, clearly not expecting such kindness from the stranger. "Why help me?" It wasn't as if they knew each other, and it wasn't exactly as if she were the friendliest lioness in the world. She didn't like feeling like she owed someone else anything but she was so hungry... Still, she wasn't going to grovel. A pleasure to meet her? Hmm... "Likewise." She spoke honestly, for a woman that was willing to help her feed her gut couldn't be bad. Right?

Aesseldar. A name to the face of these lands.

In reply to her question, Blue shook her head. "Just arrived. 'Bout a week ago." She answered honestly, seeing no reason to hide such things. There was a pause and then, tentatively she added. "Would like to take that walk... Haven't fished before." But it was never too late to learn, right?

Facts Blue agreed, which drew a smirk to Wokabis face. It was true, luck could be a cruel cruel bitch when she wanted to be. But other times, when luck was on your side then life was good. Like now, it was luck that had brought Blue to her, and luck that she was in the mood to help the smaller lioness. For she was not always so kind to strangers, usually her kindness was reserved for her kin. Once again it seemed she surprised Blue, as she soon questioned as to why she was helping her. Why was she? She didn't know, it just seemed like something her mother would have wanted her to do. Perhaps it was merely because she was in a good mood. Who knew. “Seems like the right thing to do.” She responds honestly for she could think of no other reason why she should help. She had once had help, in the form of Aisha. Aisha had taken her in and fed her and taught her of herbs, before sending her on her way once she had recovered her strength. Perhaps now it was time to return the favor, in the act of at least getting Blue a meal?

Just arrived 'bout a week ago Ah so she too was not a native to the lands, but had arrived before Wokabi had. She nodded then “I arrived mere days ago. The lands seem nice so far.” Least those she had met here had been nice thus far. As Blue confirmed she would like to take that walk, She would nod before rising from where she had been seated. “Follow me then, lets get ya a meal.” To be honest she was kind of hungry herself. After a brief pause, she would take the lead towards the shores a short distance away.

Seemed like the right thing to do. Hm. She supposed so. Helping someone as opposed to letting them starve to death. Not everyone would do it but she could appreciate that the other lioness had stopped to do so now. She wasn't sure if many lions had shown her such kindness up to this point. "Not everyone would do the right thing..." A pause and then a sincere, "Thank-you, Wokabi." She wouldn't forget this. Blue knew that she was a nobody in the grand scheme of things but if she could repay the favor she would.

The land seemed nice so far. Blue nodded in assent. Yes, it didn't seem half bad. Besides the fact that she wasn't used to going hunting alone and thus had made pretty pathetic attempts --that hopefully would become better as she got used to the solo thing or joined a pride-- the place wasn't horrible. The lions all seemed mad with their kindness... but hell if it wasn't a welcome change with what she was used to. Blue definitely didn't want to leave.

When would the bubble burst? When would she find someone with a nice stick up their ass to ruin the decent time she'd have here? With her luck probably soon. Then, another nod as the quiet feline followed Wokabi towards the ocean so that she could hopefully get a good meal in her stomach.
