Swathed in deep chocolate tones Minerva is a goliath in stature standing at 4 feet even and weighing 460 pounds; her frame is stocky yet curvaceous in comparison to most around her. There are lighter chocolate accent features upon her undersides as well as eye circle markings. This lighter shade of chocolate forms in dapples upon her rump and the base of her tail. Minerva uniquely carries a ebony half mane, a small tuft of fur along the ridge of her neck that tends to spike and lay in different directions. She possesses small darker beauty marks on the left side of her muzzle and dark ear tips as well and that perfect head of hers also carries a light chocolate hood marking. Her eyes are a soft plum purple in coloring.
Minerva is a protective soul. That, aside from her size, could very well be why she believes she was chosen by the Gods to bring others beneath her wing. It was known right from the start that she would have a strong sense of right and wrong, of where she was needed in order to help. And when she is needed she will become the rock that others need to rely on.
Even as a cub Minerva was always there to break up fights, give a word of encouragement to the younger cubs, block younger individuals from leaving the den unattended. She was a shepherd caring for a beloved flock. But there's a darker side to Minerva's 'care'. You're required to have it. If she decides that she must defend you, she will do so. She becomes almost obsessive, angry even, when her whims are not catered to. Having 460 pounds of sheer pushiness demanding that you listen can be...frightening.
Minerva has a hard time bringing herself 'down' from this frustration. She will become angrier and angrier, pouting or griping until she finally snaps, shouting at you or even starting a full blown argument about whatever she's been mad over. And when things have been blown out of proportion she will finally take a breath that she has been holding for days, then tearfully apologize to you for becoming so angry. She'll promise not to do it again, she'll tell you what a bad girl she is...but there's no guarantee that she will indeed learn from this mistake and not blow a fuse later if things don't go her way. The best thing to do would be to accept her apology, if only to calm her down. Other than that she is a very loving, loyal friend that one would be lucky to have. Even with her temper. Individuals have been known to go to Minerva when they're heartbroken or in some sort of turmoil just to vent, to let their anger out on a listening ear. She is great at listening, and when they're all done, she will talk to them until they feel better. And if they're not? She'll follow them around and check up on them until they do. She's, honestly, a very sweet lioness.
She has a strong sense of justice, and a very 'black or white' view. She likes to think of herself as a 'hero', as the big sister that others can go to. And that's what makes her frustrated by her temper tantrums all the more. How can she protect others when they grow scared of her? She knows this but...perhaps its easier to protect others and keep them safe if they just listen to her? Yes, Minerva can be a bit of a control freak, but, usually for the best intentions. Minerva is a fairly intelligent lioness with a very strong sense of direction. Perhaps it's a product of growing up in the maze of her childhood, but she rarely ever gets lost. She has a good mental compass and can lead you back from anywhere.
Minerva was born to a multi generational mother and father. She grew up with one brother and one sister, happy and healthy among loving pridemates in a time of plenty. And boy did they need it! The cubs grew like weeds, soon towering over any other children their age...and some older ones! Their breeding was evident in every facet of their looks. They were big cubs.
Minerva's personality was quick to emerge under the weight of a childhood bully. She and the other cubs were shoved around often by an older cub, a cub who should have known better than to harass someone so much younger. The boy was careful and smart, he made sure to do his bullying when the adults' backs were turned. Minerva grew angrier and angrier...but also bigger. The bullying didn't last long for Minerva herself. She was quick to match the other's size, and she began to defend the smaller cubs. It soon became clear that whether they wanted it or not, Minerva would be there around every corner to halt the bully in their tracks. It was like she had eyes in the back of her head. No matter where the offending cub went, Minerva was watching. Eventually the boy either gave up or moved on to be mentored by an adult. Either way he was done bullying and Minerva was regarded a hero among those her age. And it turned out that adults had been watching too. Minerva was promoted to an apprentice in her pride and paired with a strong male who taught her how to fight and most importantly defend. In time, Minerva moved on from her natal pride in hopes of having a fresh beginning on her own. And though her pridemates loved and missed her, she knew that she wanted to make a bigger and better impact elsewhere and so she let her heart and her dreams lead her.
