How interesting it is to watch a world at war with itself. It happened every where, it only took the task of looking. In the trees an aye-aye tapped the bark of a limb, picking out and consuming each and every insect it found, fir everywhere was death- it was natural. Crickets chirped to the moon, a song of the night, each one picked up in pitch as the volcanic goddess drew near, for everything lived in fear- it was natural. Screeching bats picked off moths and katydids, desperate to escape from the fate of another's stomach, for everything truly lived in chaos- it was natural. But what wasn't natural was when a goddess was at war with herself or her spawn. Volcan watched three evenings before as her oldest son stalked away, had just snarled at his mother because she didn't want him to move to a place too far away. He called her clingy, and in her heart and mind a storm began to brew, her ember inflamed gaze dimmed a little, for she loved her children so much even divinity would not overrule her care for them. His dismissal of her love broke something, and the goddess's mind swam with dark thoughts for days until her smallest babe suggest she take a walk to clear her head. So she did. Her dark paws crunched grass, the screaming of tree frogs calling for a lover called out in a beautiful tune, but it was nothing more than mere noise to the heart broken empress. Thunder rang out suddenly, the screeching of bats stilled, the Aye-Aye seeked shelter, but the crickets and the frogs found joy as fat rain drops fell lazily from the sky, slipping down each vibrant green plant and soaking into the obsidian fur upon the lady's body. Lost in thought, she continued on, for the rain had never been a bother to her. Am I really clingy? Even if so..... How dare that insolent boy say such a thing to me. He should know better! But..... How my heart yearns for him to return to me, and join my side once again.

Though the rain forest was often a place of comfort there would be nothing that would distract him from the task at hand. He had come here, stride slow and even as the gentle beast meandered through the paths. Her scent had been hard to follow in the rain which had long since soaked his coat despite the dense canopy above. For a while he'd wondered if the rain clouds weren't underneath the tree tops, as though nothing had stopped their path here. The rumbling of clouds up on high reminded him that regardless of the canopy the weather would not be clearing any time soon. When he saw her there before him on the broken path he felt a warmth bloom within his breast, the chocolate mohawk along the top of his neck bristled for a moment and a warm smile crossed his lips. There was no space left between them as he closed the gap, pressing his shoulder affectionately into her left shoulder, tucking his head forward to press it underneath her cheek. "Volcan." Once more the purr within his breast thickened and he stayed leaning against her for longer than she may want; but her presence was comforting, had been wanted for so long now. "I'm sorry, I seem to have missed your ascension, but..." Sensing the tension he paused, her coronation could be discussed after. His head pulled away and his carmine eyes landed upon hers, holding her gaze for as long as she'd allow. "Something's wrong."

The goddess was, to say the least, happily shocked as the tawny lion appeared in her vision. She wasn't sure whether she was seeing things, whether internal affairs were blurring her thoughts and reality, but as he pressed against her, his purr shaking her body, she knew it was real. A purr erupted from her own bosom, rubbing against him in turn. "My dear friend, it has been so long, I wasn't sure I would ever see you again." she said, her voice weak with joy. "Oh Aro, don't you worry about that. The show of mw claiming was simply trivial things, what matters is I finally received what I always wanted." she said, a smile on her face. But the grin faltered as he noted her distress, holding his gaze for a few moments before looking down at her paws with a sigh. "An ungrateful son of mine, before I stepped up to claim Ignis. But eventually we will return at my side, especially once he hears I am an empress. Like child like mother, they would never stay away from a chance at power. I swear, their egos are twice the size of mine."

The remark about how long it had been had suddenly hit him in a place he hadn't realized was so vulnerable. Turning to her it had dawned on him that his often solitary and adventurous ways had created distance between them. For him that distance was easy to gap, happy to see her succeed, but a doubt lingered that he may have been able to do more, to be a more positive influence in her life like she'd been in his if he'd been around more. That quickly slid beneath the surface as she glossed over her win, and he offered a small chuckle. "It isn't like you to downplay your accomplishments, you should be proud. I've joined a pride myself, in the Woodland, but things have been quiet there of late. I should take you to meet Tintalle." Something about the way she spoke of her son though, the way that they would seek power, made that smile falter and turn into a hard line. "They should be with you out of love, not out of greed." She had done everything to care for her children, to show them their devotion, so why could they not do the same? "Which child?"

Volcan tried to recall as Arodion decided to leave the tribe to explore the world- she never once felt resentment as he faded into the distance. The goddess had felt proud to watch him finally leave the oppressing place that was the ash walkers. Dhe always thought they all deserved much better, and so bot too long after he left, she did too. It was a miracle they inhabited the same land now. Volcan shook her wandering thoughts, putting her attention back onto her cream friend. "I am very proud, there's just quite a bit to do right now. And that's wonderful news! I'm happy to hear you have found a place for yourself- but you are welcome on Ignis land anytime you wish." she purred. "My oldest son Drazhan. But I don't worry too much about it, he'll come back. They always do. But I'm thinking maybe he's right, maybe I am too clingy?"

Life had been a tumultuous up and down, and he had never lingered long on the past. Occasionally he wondered if he had other, biological, family, where they were, what happened that they'd left him. But Volcan had been an invaluable part of his life and he'd decided long ago that regardless of what was in his past, she would always be there for him. "I am glad to hear that, I will certainly stop by. Where have you claimed for yourself?" He had heard the call go out but he hadn't heard exactly from where, though she smelled a bit like the lake and rocky outcroppings, he didn't want to make an assumption and end up in the wrong pride lands. Tintalle would likely not look favorable upon trespassing either if that became an issue. But when her tone changed to ask about being clingy, he laughed a little bit. 'I've never thought of you as clingy, my dear friend. Attentive, loving, and well-meaning, yes." Though he was also not her child. "Have the other children joined you in Ignis? He felt poised and comfortable as he pulled away just enough to look at her eyes and cast his fond gaze upon her face.

The empress chuckled warmly as he promised to visit. Arodion had always meant a lot to her, and if they were not so similar in age, he could have been like her son- but rather, she thought of him as a little brother. He fit the role very well. "I have claimed lands on the northeastern side of Mosmori, our dens are in the mountainside that butts close." she stated. Volcan had no hesitation telling him of her location, even where she slept at night, for even if he told his empress in good faith, and she decided to declare war- her numbers were too miniscule to matter. Ithilien was not a threat, at the moment. The dark woman gently pushed her shoulder into his, playful in her manner, "Good, that's what I was going for." the goddess joked. "Out of the six, two of my middle litter have joined. Sefu and Petra. Drazhans littermate, to say the least, is playing games- and i dont have time to keep chasing her around. And my youngest, my precious delicate daughter, will arrive soon. She can only travel at night comfortably, and still must find food and such, without me there to hunt for her. And Sefu and Petra's sister will also arrive soon. I'm giving them time, some may need more than others." she purred, thinking fondly of her offspring, even the ones who may not be so fond in return.

The lake, it seemed quite fitting if he thought about Volcan and her choice of land. Though the lake never changed it was a force to be reckoned with, it had been there since the days the land began and was fed by the spring thaw of the mountain. With Crescentia as the back drop it was no wonder that she would also take a land that was fed most of the newcomers; the paths from the mountains led straight through Mosmori. The nudge from her shoulder snapped him from his thoughts and a low, mirthful laugh escaped his lips. "I suppose I forgot to mention crazy? Ambitious? Powerful." The laugh and the pleasure of the moment clearly reached his eyes, crinkling the corners back gently. "If I see any of the stragglers I will take them in the right direction." It was weird that she had already so much family, when he himself had nothing but her. Once more he gently leaned into her, sighing for a moment. "Can you imagine our lives of the past now? It feels so distant. A foreign thought, almost as if it never was."

Volcan laughed heartily at his words- he was right, she was ambitious, powerful even. Maybe a bit crazy.... She wouldn't admit that, though. "Thank you, Aro, you're sweet to do that." she purred. She rubbed her head against her cheek, sighing happily. Her friend, the only one that truly saw her for the longest time.... They were together again. "It's odd, almost, how that is. Its the past, but it feels more like a dream." she chuckled lightly. "But we jave eachother again, and that's all that matters. Tell me, do you have anyone now? A mate, any cubs?" she asked.

A glean in his eye appeared mirthfully as she pressed into his cheek and joked with him. The very sound of her laughter, her voice, was soothing indeed. Though her question brought forth something he hadn't quite thought about yet, couldn't quite put to words, but this was Volcan, and with her there was anything he could say, he could be an open book with no repercussions. "Well..." Carmine gaze softened as his voice lowered pleasantly, heat surging to his face.

"I have not been as fortunate as you, no." Chuckling lightly he considered leaving her hanging there, but instead he breathed slowly and the pleasant glint rose in his eyes. "Though as of late I have felt a certain attraction towards someone. Though I am not sure.. I am not sure if it is returned. Time will tell, no?" Perhaps she'd leave it there, or perhaps she'd prey - either way it was in her court now. "What of your lovers?"
