Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

11/28/2020 Staff
As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

11/19/2020 Staff
Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

11/4/2020 Staff
Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

12/15/2020 Eoin
With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

11/17/2020 Eoin
The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

11/4/2020 Eoin
It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

Spring Y11
With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

It started with one. A small bubble of gas that has been trapped below managed to burp its way to the surface. It bursts to send many droplets all around and a stench of sulfur that can be smelled from far away. Then, there was another and another and they continued until they began to grow in size. Surely to catch many by surprise. However, if one listened close enough- they would find a steady rhythm that they created.

Of course, she would be there to notice. Her favored place was the swamp and she had grown accustomed to the way of life within it. She knew the way the murk moved. The way the sludge shifted. She was aware of the deeper places and those of the shallow. A connection to the place that was unsettled today. Eyes glanced over to the water. Her paws were already dirtied by the waters. Mud caked on to her lower limbs, despite her security upon a dry fallen log.

She watched as the bubble rose to the surface. Grimaced as it popped and expelled the vulgar gas. It burned the hairs within her nostrils, forced the woman to recoil in the opposing direction. Yet to only discover how fruitless her act had been. Because from behind another would pop. And another to the side. Until she was surrounded by the rise and burst of many, many different gas pockets.

She was at the mercy of the swamp. Trapped on her log for the moment as she wondered what type of spirits could upset the land so greatly.

She was a child of unfortunate circumstances, an orphan of war, and it would seem that Kyarri's luck was still tainted beneath the bloodstains of battle. With so many different places to explore in these news lands she found herself in, the dusty girl had found herself quite utterly lost within this murky, sodden bog. She had done her best to remain dry and mud-free, and had completely failed in her attempts as the muck coated her socked legs. Dry spots were to infrequent for Kya to manage hopping from one fallen log to the next, thus having to force herself through the water in order to scramble up the next tree trunk or other various debris. All this in-and-out of the water, though, had completely turned the child around to the point that she wasn't certain as to which way would lead her back out of the swamp. Needing to refocus and catch her breath, the orphan clawed her way up a fallen branch just barely thick enough to hold her weight, for now.

The first bubble, she didn't immediately notice. But then was another, and then another. Next she heard the movements of someone else nearby, managing to whip her head around to spot a fluffy feline witnessing the same bubbles while on a fallen log. There was no time to ask questions, though, as more bubbles rose up around the child as well, leaving behind a pungent odor with every burst at the surface of the swamp. What was going on?

Hecuba had never been the type to hover until recently. The mere idea of Kyarri being out of her sight was enough to cause her heart rate to spike, but she was independent -- maybe even more so than either of her girls had been. She had survived on her own for so long it was foolish of the fallen queen to think her guardianship necessary, but whatever. Hecuba had some issues she needed to work through, okay? Issues she wasn't feeling particularly interested in confronting right then and there, so instead, she slipped off after the cub while she explored..

And then got stuck.

Hecuba stood on dry land, eyes widening as the bubbles began to pop noisily. "Kyarri!" The lioness frowned and began to wade into the swampy water, but it became quite obvious the thickness of the liquid was going to prevent her from making any kind of rescue attempt. Although she was vaguely aware of the adult lioness in the same situation, Hecuba.. gave zero fucks about her. Whoops.

The present of others was not what brought him here, for some reason he'd opted to follow the horrendous stench that accompanied the belching, bubbling earth. It brought him from the far depths of the swamp, his coat covered in splotches of mud and brackish stains, green eyes paling as they watched the boiling waters expel their waste. Someone was calling out - my goodness he hoped his mother wouldn't do that to him, how could he be cool then? - before spotting the other child clinging to a branch. Someone else was on a log, and all these strangers seemed to be brought together by that thing roiling angrily in the grungy waters of the swamp. Occasionally sticks and debris from below rose and exploded with a bursting bubble before slapping flatly back down onto the water, and a slight nervousness at how fast they were spreading caused him to try and make his way partially up a tree. Small claws latched onto the bark and perched him a foot up from the waters, hugging the tree with his ears against his skull as his eyes widened while looking at it. "Wh... what's going on?" Directed at no one in particular and all the same each of them at once.

The bursts and pops of the murky water continued on as they filed in. Each one a different size as it broke the surface, yet would smell just as horrid as the one previous to it. However if one was to pay close enough attention, they would notice that they were, in fact, growing in size and the amount of them at one time. With each mini-explosion, the amount of free space offered to those within would shrink.

The noise of them began to grow more so in the north. To the south, it would seem a thin path still lay clear and unbothered by the sudden chaos of the land. As if it was planted there to tempt them down it and away from the rotten-egg stench of the water that popped so viciously toward them.

She had little time to think. Each burst seemed to become closer. There was more and more by each second that ticked away. Eyes found a figure that moved in the distance. It was small and youthful. A cub that Basilia wanted to scoop up to protect, but she does not. She remained upon her fallen log for as long as she could manage. Long enough to hear the call of a name and her head jerked to find the lioness.

But as her eyes had moved another had been caught. Another cub they would see. That is when the chaos seemed to pick up. Ears picked up the noise and the lack of it, in a certain direction. Immediately she jumped into the slosh and ushered herself toward the boy. Since it seemed the female had a caretaker for the moment. "This way! Come, come!" She cried out in urgency to the boy cub. Her paws attempted the path that had been cleared of the bubbles and whatever else may be going on.

Even if the sudden break to the south seemed far too good to be true.

Luckily she was here because otherwise he may not have had the courage to jump back down - though he hardly had an option. As the lioness approached his paws began to give way and his grip weakened against the bark, his body releasing and claws scratching at the wood which was just too damp not to break apart beneath his grip. As he tumbled into the murk below he rose out of it, some of it had cleared, but the rest bogged down his coat and infiltrated his nostrils in a most unpleasant way.

He shook his head and curled his lips in disgust as his shoulders shuddered together before he stretched out. But before he followed the lioness he turned towards the other cub, sticking his head out from above the bubbling and belching waters. "H..hey! We should go this way, come on." Trying to encourage the others to follow he turned towards Basilia, waiting for her to lead the way to safety. If mother could only see all the trouble he seemed to always get himself into when she wasn't around. Then again it was likely for the best that she didn't, that way she couldn't scold or him get too worried.

The parted path would seem to grow more shallow with each touch of a paw upon it. The water shifted and parted and allowed those that followed the break in the swamp to pass with much more ease as they removed themselves from the chaos that had broken out.

The trek is not long, but still within a good distance from the center. Before long the foliage of the swamp begins to scarcen. Less and less is seen until it is gone altogether. Even the ground itself seemed to stop at a sharp drop. The ocean lay in waiting below.

A single bird has flown from the branch to swoop down past the duo that had come. Its wings flap in a soothing rhythm as it takes off toward the vast expanse of see. From the higher placement, a shallow sandbank could be found as it connected the mainland with the Atoll in the distance.

A new place for all to explore, discovered by the two.

Ardalion Atoll has been revealed!

Congratulations! You have reached the end of this event thread! Please post a final time (with an exit or you may continue on after) to be eligible to claim the bonus feathers for participation! Remember, you had to post during each round to be able to claim :3

It would seem the water began to retreat and part a path for the duo that had decided to take the clear route that had been so graciously offered to them, by whatever higher power may be in the works. She was careful as to not rush too far ahead, afraid to let the stranger of a cub from her sight. She may be no mother, but the instinct to protect was ever strong with Basilia when she stumbled across a youth.

In due time the mire gave way to a drop and out in the ocean, she could spot what looked like a sliver of land surrounded by a reef. Eyes followed the single bird that had followed them out as it leads her gaze to find the shallow path from shore to the atoll. Eyes lit with a new interest and the previous chaos had already begun to clear from her mind.

"Look there!" She pointed with the jut of her chin before she glanced to the boy. With a giggle of laughter, she would not wait as she turned to the right and trudged along the edge of the mire to find a place she could descend down to the beach from.

She just had to explore the new found isle.
