Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

11/28/2020 Staff
As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

11/19/2020 Staff
Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

11/4/2020 Staff
Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

11/17/2020 Eoin
The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

11/4/2020 Eoin
It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

Spring Y11
With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

The swamp was her first place to find and thus far she had no reason to leave it. It was filled with everything she could ever want. Carpets of moss that grew along the trunks and logs. Vines that hung low from dead branches. Even now she worked so carefully to dig up an object. Her hind paws were planted as firmly as they could manage on a more solid piece of ground she had managed to spot. Front paws dug around the skull that was only half visible as of current. Its white marred by the muck of the stagnant water.

She was sure to not scrape her claws along the surface. She wanted to not further damage the object especially since the rest of its condition was not yet visible. She herself was a sight for sore eyes. Or quite the opposite, depending on who was to view her. Pale colors coated with mud and murk. Splatters even managed to cross her angelic facade. A fresh blanket of moss had been scraped off the night before and draped delicately over her back. A new vine wrapped her neck and a wilted flower was tucked into her hair, just behind the ear.

She wore a simple smile as she worked slowly. A hum of a song in her throat and her mind in her own world.

From frolicking in the steppe he'd made his way south, into the thick overgrowth of the swamp, broad paws pressing against earth that went from solid to soft. Like a sponge, he could feel his weight sinking slightly with each step. Of course this only amused the man, he took several moments - like a child to test the ground and watch it wane under his weight. In some spots the water even pooled around his foot; now he was wet. All well. He didn't intend on wandering too far into the murky swamp, not initially anyway, but when he went to turn away his ear would pivot, catching the soft distant sound of...well he wasn't quite sure what it was. But it was sing song in nature, too far for him to pinpoint the source, curiosity would drive him in.

Clumsily he began through the thickening trees, the ground becoming more and more unstable the further he went it seemed, ears swiveling at his attempt to catch the sound as it resonated off the dense pack of foliage and moss covered limbs, vines hanging limply from the mess of greenery as he trudged forward. A turn here, another there, it grew louder but still he could not locate the lovely song.

Eyes fixated ahead, attention lost to his focus until the earth seemed to give way beneath him, one moment there was earth and the next he was falling, a gasp and his blue eyes grew wide and wild. "Agh!" His front half collapsing roughly into the murky swamp water, only rearing his head back with just enough time to avoid dunking his head his chin splashed against the surface. The entire lower half of his body completely submerged. The boy lifted a paw, as if offended by the pool of slime he'd just fallen into, blue eyes gazing down with a look of disbelief he gave a huff - trying to search for solid ground again stumbling through the water and dunking his chin back into the water several times. The chill already beginning to set in over his skin.

She had settled into a slow pace. A dig here and a pull of mud there. Still, her hum sounded from the depth of her throats. Tail even swayed behind her to the rhythm she alone created. However, when she paused to study her handiwork at uncovering the skull, she heard the movement. A splash somewhere on the other side of the foliage. A noise that she could have sworn had to belong to the living.

Curiosity rose and along with it, she did as well. Dainty limbs stretched her to a stand. Her path picked easily, as she had traveled it hours before, across a more shallow portion of the muck. The ground thick enough to not suck a weary paw within. She is careful as she wiggled around some overgrowth to emerge on the other side. Eyes found the source of the ruckus with ease.

And a light giggle escaped past her opened mouth. Eyes set aglow with a twinkle of amusement. " 'Dis way! Come, come!" She urged from her place as she tried to coax him in the direction he could gather his footing. The laughter left a loose smile on her lips as she stared at him in awe. Were those horns? She could not see his lower half but questioned if perhaps he might have hooves as well.

The spirits had blessed her more.

The ruckus of brush and foliage caught his attention, ears rotating atop his crown, chin dripping with swamp water, from the dense tangle of greenery emerged the swamp witch herself! And with her approach the song stopped, was it her? A pale lioness with a partial mane more impressive than anything he'd sought to grow and upon her head and draping down her back a tangle of earthy gatherings. Flowers, vines, moss, twigs and any other assortment she could muster from their surroundings he could guess. " 'dis way! come, come!" her voice rang, coaxing him toward her. Pan would stumble awkwardly as he lifted one large front limb, throwing off his balance and plunging him deeper into the murky mess. "How do you live in this...stuff" he grumbled. Slowly though he would trudge closer to her, his chin dripping with water that still dipped occasionally back into the muck as he followed blindly.

Eventually after wafting through the water he would begin to find ground that became more and more solid, the front of his heavy frame emerging from the water. His weight sinking in the still soft mud and moss but with persistence and trying to be a little lighter on his feet he was able to find stability, water pouring from his limbs as he pulled himself further up onto solid flooring.

His darker rear half eventually followed, lynx tail and back hocks where his fur was thicker drenched with water. Strands of pond slime and moss draped over his back, the man would huff, giving a much needed shake of his head to try and get some of the water off. "hey...thanks" he rumbled. "was that you? were you the one singing?" he didn't hesitate to ask giving a light cock of his head and a crooked smile, stunning blue eyes finding hers.

Ice blue eyes never left her newfound friend as he hobbled through the deeper part of the muck. She was entranced by what she saw of him so far. Horns to adorn his cranium. Stunning blue eyes that knocked even her own out of the water. She found a sudden flutter in her stomach that she stifled by the shuffle of her paws in place. The soft smile still evident as it played across her lips in a childish manner.

She is only able to give him a girlish giggle in response to his first question. Head rose just slightly. Most could not see the beauty that she found in such a place. "Easy." her spanish drenched word escaped in a musical manner. Her petite frame stepped back to allow him the proper room as he pulled himself on to the mostly dry embankment she had found hours earlier.

She wasted no time in taking a good look at him. Even as he thanked her, she moved to close whatever little distance had remained between them. To cast away any personal space he thought he might have. She left merely feet to part him as eyes inspected his top half first. She attempted to pull her muzzle close to his own. "Si, that was me." She would finally answer before she pulled back a step or so. Head dropped to stare at his paws. No hooves. She must admit to herself, she was disappointed.

"easy." She giggled, a childish air about her and Pan only grinned back at her - a charming smirk crossing his handsome face as he'd worked his way through the muck and onto the much more stable bank of land. Setting himself close to her, and the pale dame, well she was sure to close any remaining gaps between them, Pan only smirked at her. A single ear curving back slightly for it wasn't often he met one that cared as little about personal space as him. As her muzzle drew in toward him, he reciprocated leaning in closer - with the intent to bump noses with the girl if she'd allow him to, hackles bristling with excitement at their close proximity, he exhaled heavily, a chuff escaping his maw. "si, that was me." he offered a lopsided smile even as she backed away. "you might end up luring men to their deaths with that song of yours - siren" he chuckled lowering himself upon his haunches.

He found her gaze, found it as it fell upon his paws head lowering to get a good look, his eyes would follow, head angling down to look at them himself. He lifted a paw, rotating it to look at the bottom side of his large, now sopping wet paw. "Yeah; I have big feet" he commented casually, as if thinking out loud to himself before placing his paw back down, casting his eyes in an upward glance toward the pale woman.

She had thought of the touch as nothing more than accidental in her rush to check him out. Oblivious to his attempts to really capture her attention, or her gaze, until his head had lowered and his voice interrupted her inspection of his hooves or lack of. Did only the goat part come in form of his horns? She chose to give his comment a snort and a grin as she raised herself back up. A tig or two fell from her hair.

"Lure them, maybe. But-" She paused to point her chin back at the water he came from. "I save." With that she turned her eyes back to him. To really find his this time. Those dazzling blues he sported so fashionably. "Qué are you?" She questioned ever so softly in her usual musical tone. Not a thought in the world that her question may be offensive.

How could she offend something the spirits had created so special just for her to find?

"lure them, maybe. but-" he offered a light tilt of his broad head. His eyes following her notion toward the water briefly, "i save." he nodded as his gaze came back to her pale features chuckling. Though he didn't think his life was in immediate danger from the nasty swamp water, he did however still appreciate her help in finding his footing again. Who knew, if she hadn't come along, maybe he would of been frozen before he had any shot at getting back to land. Hell, he still might freeze by the time nightfall came if he didn't get himself dry. And this damp terrain wasn't much of a place to do that. He smiled back at her after a brief pause offering a small nod, "Yes, of course"

"qué are you?" his ears practically flew forward, "oh!" he exclaimed, realizing he'd completely forgotten to even introduce himself. "Pan ─ i'm Pan. " he rumbled. "...you?" a gentle inquire as he stretched his neck out closer to her once more, aiming to attempt to sniff lightly at the corner of her chin before he drew back once more, sweeping himself back up onto his feet, blue eyes beginning to wander through thick foliage, head rising to gaze through the treetops that swallowed up the sky.

"you live near here by the way?"

He did agree with her, which only caused her to grow in excitement. Eyes widened just slightly with the amusement she had found in him. Eyes searched him for whatever he might have there to offer to her. Her smile now a full-blown grin that caused the corners of her eyes to crinkle in response.

Still, she had made no real attempt to part from his closeness she had forced on him. The stench of the swamp mingled with his musk in the finest of way. He answered finally, with his name and she supposed it would suffice enough. Pan. Short and simple. "I like it." She exclaimed as if it was some amazing title. A name befitting a god. Or whatever the goatling may truly be. "Basilia Genoveva." Her first and middle name rolled so easily from her foreign tongue.

She did not pull away as he attempted to smell her. Instead, she took full opportunity of such a thing and drew in a deepened breath of him as well. Gaze quickly fell away and her head fell to the side, away from him in a moment of shyness that forced her to feel flushed beneath her pale, dirtied coat. Her stomach fluttered again. However, just as she lifted her sight to find him again she watched as it swept over the swamp as his question met her waiting ears. Laughter spilled out for a moment. Soft and contained as it might have been. "No... But maybe i should?" A thought she had considered even before he mentioned it. It was... soggy for lack of better words, but it held treasures and secrets that she felt compelled to uncover.

Plus, it had her favorite draperies along with dead things. A honey hole of a sort in her mind.

"i like it." she boasted which only made his smile grow, drawing his head back slightly as his head reared higher with pride upon her approval of his title. "basilia genoveva." he gave a light chuff, "basilia...I like that too, can I call you bas?" he wondered, playing with how her name rolled off of his tongue. Rounded ears would rotate upon his crown as the woman did not flee from his lack of personal space. Instead she even sought to lean in closer, to get her own breath of him. Before quickly her eyes would fall, Pan would let his blue eyes follow them as she turned away from him in a bashful display, he leaned in closer; concerned with a tilt of his head he sought to remove the space she'd created until she lifted her eyes back to him; and he offered a smile.

Until the moments of happy tension spilled over with his question and her responded bubble of laughter, "no... but maybe i should?" "well i think so...this place just...suites you, don't you think?" he rumbled with a smile, allowing his bright blue's to wander around the thick mossy setting draped on every side of them and then back to her, who still had bits of vines and flowers adorning her as though she was apart of the swamp herself. She belonged here, he felt.
