Happy 2021 to all! Big thank you for hanging out and being awesome for the first two-ish months of the site. It's been fun so far, looking forwards to a lot this year! If you haven't seen, after a delay, the last day of the advent can be claimed now (here). You have three choices for your last advent prize including a second chance at a creature pass. That's right we have creatures coming to Aesseldar now! Be sure to check the announcement for any rule clarifications if you're interested. Last big bit of news we do have our light layout "in the mist" ready to be used. There will still be tweaks and color changes coming in the next week or so by the fantastic dusk so don't be afraid if things look a little different.

Congratulations to Zay for winning the pride raffle with Runar! Welcome our new pride, Adamo Autumna! Don't forget to keep posting in the advent to claim your awesome prizes, and within the next few days you'll see some additional posts cropping up in the ooc areas. We'd love some feedback on the site and will be adding an area for feedback and suggestions. We will also be adding a thread to post all your open threads. Another fantastic surprise is that Koafox (some of you may know her as Miranda from other sites) has said we are welcome to use their table switcher plugin. As soon as I get the files we will be integrating that into the site for everyone to enjoy!

TWO news posts back to back my oh my stuff must be brewing! We wanted to let everyone know that the third pride slot has opened. Unlike the other slots we wanted to give everyone a chance to go for it as well, so we'll be raffling it! In order to enter the raffle please DM an admin or the Eoin account with your OOC and which character you'd like to enter the raffle with. The only requirement that has to be met is that the character must be 2 years of age or older (meaning that number of posts and feathers doesn't matter). So get your entries in, the more the merrier as we head into the new year! The other exciting news is that our neutral/lighter colored layout will be out by the end of the year, thanks to the lovely dusk!

Thank you so much everyone for a fantastic first month opening. We wanted to thank you all and let you know that we've decided to extend the grand opening bonuses for one more week, so you can bring in your first three characters free through 12/11! In other news our first contests have started and we couldn't be more excited! You may participate in the following, if you haven't already partaken: Advent Calendar, Superlatives, Advertising Contest, OTMs, and the Writing Contests. We'll be releasing another update soon with some super fun surprises, but some of Eoin's events have drawn to an end and it appears some new boards may start popping up! Expect to see more of Eoin, as well as some adjustment to the event threads, for some of the future boards as well!

As we bring another week to close we'd like to welcome everyone to participate in our first contest! The Advertising contest is up and provides some really great rewards, as well as participation rewards! Coming soon are the first set of OTMs and superlatives, a writing contest, a sneak peak at our more refined skills system, and a few other small updates. Happy weekend everyone!

Thank you everyone for having joined us so far for our site opening and help us grow our community. We have had so many wonderful suggestions, and while we are processing some things and working on the skills, we wanted to let you all know that the OTMs and superlatives are coming! Keep an eye out soon for those. Also it appears that Eoin has been wandering around Aesseldar and may be up to no good... best get checking on his apperances for some good old fashion fun, and maybe even a sweet surprise!

Welcome everyone to the grand opening of Aesseldar! We are excited to open our doors and build a community with all of you. As we being our journey together we would love you all to read through the grand opening thread, and remember that while we're transitioning into the start of this, we still have a few fantastic surprises coming. Our skill system is underway and we hope to have that out by the end of November, we would also love to have you all in the Discord with us and welcome any and all suggestions and feedback to help us improve the site! We have a number of things still to come, including a lighter colored layout, accessories in the shop, and would love to remind everyone that the top right series of three vertical dashes will open up the sidebar. In order to reference what IC month it is you will find the calendar link in the sidebar. Happy posting!

With three new terrains open and a third pride staking a claim once more, our mischievous deity Eoin appears to be up to no good again. The quake that cracked open the mountain and closed it once more was felt around the lands, and three new terrains popped open. Tryphosa Shore now has an Atoll sub-board, and there is a Desert and a Rift board. Several more will be coming... but first Eoin will make an impression.

The rainforest trembles, as if fighting back against those who dare to occupy it. The lands of Aesseldar are still only half-tamed, unfettered and unwilling to give way to any aspiring King, any growing empire. And just as quick as King Barnabas came to lay claim to it did it begin to push back, forcing his fledgling pride out with an unforgiving downpour, and a bitter resentment of the creatures that dwell within. With one pride felled, it leaves the opportunity for another to rise from the ashes.

It happened on a hot, humid night. No one there to witness it. Somewhere, surely, it could be heard. The start of a crack. The sound vibrating from mountain top to valley dips. It was a long and dreadful noise. Somewhere in the mountains, somehow, one of the peaks had collapsed. An impassible tower of sharpened points- gone. Snow, with the hidden rocks from the destruction, slid down the slopes that were formed by ages. A wave of white forced outward to cover all below. At first it is still much too dangerous to traverse. But with time the new ground settles and with it comes- a pass. On the other side awaits a land untouched by the curious paws. The lands of Aesseldar have been revealved and somewhere down below three pridelands sit empty, awaiting for eager travelers to start staking their claims. Please refer to the grand opening announcement for information on how to claim a pride slot and fully customize it, since there are some grand opening bonuses or exceptions that are not referenced in the guidebook! We would also love to let everyone know that any official in-character news that gets posted in this "in-character" section of the layout is going to be considered common knowledge for any character in-game. Consider it like an in-character bulletin board! We will keep it updated with relevant and applicable information and hope it helps inspire your plots.

With spring the clouds begin to disperse and the warmer weather begins and new life blooms. With new lands having been discovered there is a plethora of places for the lions to explore and yet somehow that mischievous site deity never seems to stop bringing the surprises, some of which include occasional inclement weathers. Temps varying between 45°-80°F (7°-27°C).

His attacks were successful. He could feel her soft flesh with his teeth. Mmm. He growled with satisfaction.

Her teeth sunk deep into his leg and he growled loud with pain. He could feel hot crimson liquid going down his striped limb. His claws dug into the ground as he attempted to sink his teeth deeper into her flesh, attempting to penetrate the skin further and reach as deep as he could. Meanwhile his claws would attempt to dig in deep too, aiming to claw down her shoulder in an attempt to leave deep gashes after.

Teeth penetrate flesh and already she can feel the blood as it pulls beneath his teeth. She hoped she tasted as good as he did between her own jaws. Luck he did not press more on to her, after all, he could flatten her, she would try to use her braced and locked limbs to drag herself backward, despite the damage his hold could give. At the same time, she tried to keep her own grasp on his limb with both tooth and claw to perhaps try and off-center his balance, or at the least, deepen the wounds she was causing as well.

The pain from her jaws and claws against his leg were causing pain to surge through his body. As much as it was painful, adrenaline pumped in his veins. As she applied pressure, he attempted to do the same.

His locked jaws and his claws would aim to dig deeper and he would attempt to apply pressure onto her, while attempting to cause pain. His back legs spread and bent to make sure he has balance, his left leg bruised, bleeding, and weak tried to keep it's stance.

She was in a tight spot, so to speak. Yet she was not beneath the removal of a limb. After all, plenty of pirates were without parts of their bodies. Surly this brute would give one way or another. She tried to ignore the pain of his teeth as they ripped flesh. His claws dug deep. Her limbs grew tired as she tried to hold herself up beneath his pressure. The front half slightly bent now.
Instead of her continuance to try and drag backward, she suddenly pushed forward and upward. She hoped to cause his jaws or neck strain or even disbalance all while she tried to maintain her hold on the limb in her grasp.

He could feel her bent stance. And man was he enjoying it. Another growl rippled through his clenched jaws as she pushed instead of pulled. So he obliged.

He attempted to lift his leg in an attempt to put her off balance, meanwhile his jaws would release her neck and he would aim to push with his right paw that was still collided with her. He would attempt to leave his balance to his hinds, pain growing from the stain he was attempting.

She was released. Her scruff felt instant relief as his teeth left it. She pushed up at the same time he tried to push back against her. Her plan left them still in a lock. His claws remained in her flesh. So she would try to use her hind limbs once more to step forward and push upward at him with all her might. She did not mind his limb that lifted as it only helped her rise with it. She was not about to let her teeth out of it. Instead, she tried to clamp down further. Perhaps to feel the bone. Her paw that was locked in his leg tried to sink in further and drag the length of it. If she lost, she wanted to leave a forever mark on the bastard.

Her teeth sunk deeper and her claws marked his legs. That was going to leave a mark. A loud growl slipped out of his parted jaws. But just as she pushed, she let go. Both were bloodied and bruised. He had to admit, she gave him a good fight. "That was a good fight." He said with a low hiss that came out of his lips. He shook his body and head to try and get some of the pain off. He let out a cough and took a step backwards from the "arena". With a lifted left limb he moved towards Minerva and halted a little bit before her.

"This forest belongs to me. Those who do not wish to join me, must leave." He was short and clear in his demand. His head turning to look at each one that were present at his battle for a home. With that he continued and took a sit a little behind Minerva, giving her a gentle rub of his shoulder against hers as he passed her.

One lost fight does not mean failure, Kieran had told his captain. And he had meant it. It doesn't mean that it is easy to watch Rue battle a lion so much bigger than her, and when it seems obvious that she will fall, the berry pelted beast stands with his claws sunk deep into the earth to keep from tearing forward. She would not forgive the intrusion.

When the new king and the captain disengage, that is when Kieran allows himself to step from the back of the small gathered crowd and ease to Rue’s side. His gaze does not drop to her, and remains on the pale stranger, just in case his apparent easy manner changes. Ugly bastard. "On your feet, captain," he murmurs lowly, for only Rue to hear. She will find no sympathy or kindness in Kieran’s stoic form, but there is no denying the protective way he hovers at her shoulder, as if ready to launch himself at any stranger that gets too close.

A low growl rumbled deep in her throat at the sight of a challenger but Minerva did not move and stood stoic, watching with an intent plum gaze as the woman moved to face Barnabas. She had the utmost faith in Barnabas, that he would successfully defend his claim. After all it took a strong individual to lead a pride, and Barnabas was that individual. Admittedly though it was incredibly tough for Minerva not to intervene as the fight pursued. Her tail flicked mildly behind her as she watched and waited for the eventual outcome. And eventually the woman conceded to Barnabas and if it had just been her watching she would have exhaled a sigh of relief. Minerva watched as Barnabas and the woman exchanged brief words before he moved to sit behind her, his pelt briefly brushing against her own shoulder. 'This forest belongs to me. Those who do not wish to join me, must leave.' He spoke and Minerva stood, tall and imposing as she watched the others. She did not speak but watched and waited for them to take their leave. She stood protectively before Barnabas, her stance clear on the matter.

Another joins their little gathering shortly after her, a bright male with a bright red mane that causes her to look away. Of course he has smartass comments to make, about how he thought Barnabas was picking the worst place of them all. Of course he is correct about the bad hair day, but still she turns her gaze back towards him with it narrowed. “There are far worse places to be than here.” She drawled easily, though another stops her from commenting again. A smallish female with balls of steel it seemed, as she issued a challenge for the lands and so the fight began. She remained where she was, standing near the darker female. Dual-toned gaze watching with interest to see if Barnabas was worthy of backing, was worthy of her support. If he lost, he would not be worthy in her eyes.


After the fight ended and it was clear that Barnabas won she watched as he walked over to the darker female before speaking. Claiming that those who wished to reside here may stay but others must leave, now. Her mind jumped to her father, and a frown crossed her mind. Torn, for she longed for a home but she also wanted to be with her father – whom she had not seen since a cub – and she did not know where the rest of her kin were. Sucking in a breath, she pondered this thought before deciding to stay for now... and speak with him later about her leaving if it ever came to that. For while he had proven himself worthy of her alliance, she was ultimately loyal to her kin.
